I can confirm that this gameinfo text gets the mod working perfectly (apart from that pesky checker texture at the loading screen) and is much more stable than the text I referenced in my link below.

Yeah, no I can't seem to duplicate your issue. I just applied the gameinfo scripts and it started up fine. But the title screen is still p&b.

Well I'm glad it at least helped a little, even if it's not the final step to success. Sorry bout the texture stuff.
I'm going to backup my current Kskva folder (the one I know works) then delete it from my Sourcemods list and start the whole install process from scratch. I'll see if I can replicate your problem.
It is entirely possible that I have forgotten a step and didn't include it in my first post. I'll update with results.

Thanks to SkyNinja and Mr. Grindor for finding a temporary fix. I stumbled across this forum post: "https://steamcommunity.com/app/420/discussions/0/864971765497379056/" and it did the trick.
It's a modification of the .gameinfo text document in Kskv. game foler. Just copy and paste the code for the Episode 2 fix, restart Steam, and it should be all set.
Gameplay is perfect, no crash errors so far (knock on wood). The only trouble I've had so far is that instead of a background image for the game menu, a pink & black texture shows up. So if you start it and see a p&b screen, don't panic and just give it some time. The game menu will appear.
