Good point. However, graphics do not factor in the decision. HL2s graphics are fantastic as it is. HL2s unfriendliness to a sports mod was the biggest factor. It's possible, but we believe there are Engines better fit for this mod. Physics will play a big part in this game, and most of these newer generation games have physics engines that are adequate. My search for an engine will certainly include modability / suitability (I understand that no engine is going to be super easy for this mod). Graphics will be considered, but i think a game such as UT tries to attract as large an audience as possible, meaning it will have those uber-graphics, but should support lower-end machines as well.

hmmmm.... And we won't be totally Idle. For instance, I'll be hanging around the ice rink with a sound recorder one of these days.

by the way that side project i mentioned a few comments down has a name. Project CC. Standing of course for Calumny Cognizance. Niether the project nor the name are important enough to make news. Yes a silly name, not meaningful at all, yet quite symbolic.

I think Grundglegod makes a good point. Even if he was just joking around, a simple dodgeball map would be crazy fun, but as D.Mongoose pointed out, it might make for some lag problems.

Got back from a trip to Europe a couple days ago. I'm definetly excited about working on the Mod. We've had a side project (yet to be named) planned for a few months now which will go into effect very soon. The good thing is that it's not going to affect the game developement much at all, so we can get right to work at that also. I'll tell you all what it is about in good time. Out of respect however I'd prefer not to tell you right now.

Well, if your talking about the playing area, no. That will be mostly the same. There are various sizes for rinks. The Ice surface for international play is much larger than what the NHL uses.

Visually however, there may be a nice variety of stadiums. We're thinking a large 18,000 seat stadium, an outdoor rink, and a smaller rink that you might find in your neigborhood somewhere.

Gameplay-wise, Two different types: we really like what IOS did with their training map. Our's won't be exactly the same, and may be sequenced, but a similar type of tutorial. And then there is the normal multiplayer map.

hey everyone. Work on the mod has been a little slowed due to that thing called life (which unforunately sometimes takes precidence over other things). But we haven't stopped work on the mod. We've gotten some good work done in the last month, and here is part of it.

We finally have a website thanks to ColeProtocol. Here's the link: Shl.navyleaf.com. Please tell us what you think. I don't have the screens of maps I promised, simply because I can't find my mappers. (Frustrating because I've actually seen the maps. :)) We'll get those pics up in good time.

We'll definetly have a news update within a couple day to inform you of mod procedings.

This weeks been extreemly busy for me and I just haven't had the time to do anything really. Trying to fit everything in before a trip to Chicago this weekend. But after that it should be back to the usual for me, and I'm usually available and working on something for the mod. So I'll talk to you sometime after Tuesday when I get back.

It's going well with the small team we have right now. Once the web site is up (pretty much done), we've planned some things that will go into motion, and will play a big role in the direction the mod will go, but not game-play or engine wise.

I feel I have to say this, amid a few questions about them. The pics of Marlon Brando and the cowboys / packers game have nothing to do with what the mod will be like. They are just intended to be funny pics to promote mod.

It does however give us more reason to work on the Mod. Any NHL Players that arn't doing anything during the lockout are welcome to help, (Cmon its a chance to star in your own video game!) Although if you come and start to negotiate wages, I'll lock you out :P

Seriously though, If you are a talented goalie or skater, we'd like some help from you, To consult on matters of technique and such.
