It took a lot of time and work to make this possible , developers wanted to make it look decent but retain the feel of the old build, while adding new features that were never seen before. New maps and content, all for free, 10 years after stalker was released, this is a great omage to a timeless game.
I admit textures on weapons and people and some cutscenes might turn people off, but underneath is a great game worth your time, especially if you are a fan of Stalker.

Ok, so here is what i think so far, i started out by having high hopes, to maniacly hating it, to loving it in the end. I have ctd's, RARELY, but they still exist, only times i had them was when i tried to loot a veteran mercenary and to repair a shotgun.
I felt like an ultimate noob few days ago , having trouble even buying ammo- i was blind, but now i see.

I have fully repaired and mildly customized Abakan, and Saiga, Both with a supression and 5X scope (yes a saiga can use 5x scope and a silencer, incredible weapon)
SPP (or something like that) scientific suit
And much more.

Tips for beginners:
- Cocaine and epinephrine are your friends - stamina is a bitch you will need these
- Don't consume anything zone produced except marihuana
- First things you should save up money for are a decent helmet, and a sunrise suit
- Avoid all main quests untill you at least have a spas shotgun and an automatic rifle
- Avoid bloodsuckers (they are mostly on the east forests), they travel in packs of 3 and unless you got a good shotgun and suit you will get killed all the time.
- use rocks, whether it's dogs or blood suckers, try to find tall ones, i found that bloodsuckers give up after a while
- Make money and find items in the beginning by scavenging somewhat safe areas and by following other stalkers around and watching them
- when you think you are ready for anomaly (you will be wrong but still), find medicines that counter whatever the anomaly is (for example the scar anomaly , take a pill that has +200-300 psy protection, can't remember the name just read descriptions you will find it, get in and you wont die (i had sunrise suit and a helmet at that point). This is because medicines will help you 20 times more in an anomaly than a suit will.
- Learn to repair your stuff, it will take a long time to read description of every item you have but it will be worth it, costs a LOT less than doing it at a repair guy , unless your weapon is over 90%
