They were added by a previous dev. and the team decided it wasn't the direction we wanted to go, and thus decided it wasn't canon. They were left in for gameplay flavor as some people still enjoyed roleplaying as them.

Canon wars are wars related to the lore. EG: The game will start with factions being at war with each other lorewise.

You can always back up the save. But you should be fine.

Full versions are Always the latest version and don't need a patch.
