Don't let my Dutchness fool you, I speak almost perfect English. Right, well, basic info.. Approximately 6' tall, Caucasian, long ash blonde hair, grey-blue eyes, goatee. Metalhead. My musical preference goes out mostly to black and death metal, but also includes some electronic and ambient, and touches some things in between as well. Nevertheless, the more metal, the better. Bands include: -The Project Hate MCMXCIX -Arcturus -Naglfar -Nile -Satyricon -Aborym -Moonspell etc. I'm a casual gamer, definitely not hardcore. As such, I can't really get into RPG's. They bore me too quickly. I enjoy RTS', as well as a good FPS/TPS and even some adventures (MYST<3). Am I forgetting anything? Probably.

Hi, I've also encountered the same issue. I have no problems starting the game until I add the 13 pair, or more specifically, the 13.cat file. Removing the ones you mention and renaming 13 has no effect - the game crashes as before.
I'm sitting on 12GB or RAM and 2GB of VRAM, so I kind of doubt it's a lack of those.
The dump file reads:
"X3AP.exe
The thread tried to read from or write to a virtual address for which it does not have the appropriate access."

More so, I feel it lowers the over all experience of a game as you place additional content out of reach entirely, no matter how good you are, and it tends to create a situation where either you use the system (i.e. buy stuff) or stop playing at a certain level because of the advantage held by "premium" users...

Looking pretty good, but might I suggest making at least the head have an odd number of circumferential faces?
The human brain is very sensitive to symmetry in geometry so any "round" shape with an even number of segments will almost immediately be picked out as being - in this case - an octagonal shape, rather than round. Odd quantities mitigate this somewhat. A low poly barrel with 7 segments will appear to the brain to be more round than one with 8.
Solving this by for example inserting a line of faces along the centre of the face will as added bonus help make the face appear less pointy... :)

Neat :)
BUT. Unless it's a solid (i.e. rock) surface, metal weapons are not going to make a very metal-y sound, just a kind of thud..
Also, no shadow blending...? :| (weapon shadow darkens character shadow where they overlap)

Try to make them more stuffed-like :)

I know a few avant-gardistic metal bands, if that counts.. UneXpect, Diablo Swing Orchestra, Ram-Zet (although they may be more prog), Arcturus (bloody shame they stopped a couple of years back)..
Stolen Babies, perhaps, though not very metal, haha.
Ajattara recently (sometime last year) released an accoustic black metal album, does that count?

It was. But it's completely impractical for true weaponised/offensive purposes, as it's too big and heavy to effectively deliver. It's also prone to take out its delivery vehicle out in the blast, which is unfortunate if it's a bombing crew. It was mostly for purposes along the lines of "what you can do, we can do bigger", as they did with the giant bell, giant cannon and even giant prototype tank they have sitting around somewhere. None of them were practical, but very intimidating.

Methis - - 44 comments @ Nuclear weapon

It might be worth mentioning that the most powerful nuclear weapon ever detonated was the Tsar Bomba on the island of Novaya Zemlya (Russia). This weapon, weighing in at over 8 tonnes, delivered by a specially adapted bomber (and it still wouldn't fully fit in the bombing bay) was only about half the power (50MT) it was originally designed to be (100MT). The reason for this was that the original would have a 50/50 fission/fusion ratio, which, at this magnitude, would have raised global atmospheric radiation levels by about 24%. The final bomb was approx. 97% fusion with only 3% fission to get the process started.
Detonated at 4km above the surface, the fireball (8km across) engulfed the ground below, rocks and boulders at ground zero were melted and turned to ash, after which the fireball rose to a height of roughly 64km before flattening out. Ground zero was levelled entirely, the seismic shockwave was still measurable on its third pass around the Earth and there have been reports of windows being blown out as far as in Finland and even Sweden. Blast damage reached about a thousand kilometres. The destruction radius would have wiped out a city the size of Paris entirely.
It's estimated that the weapon's power was about three times greater than anything the Americans had or have.

That's Soviet Power for you.

Methis - - 44 comments @ Antimatter weapon

Create, yes, isolate, not so much. To isolate and contain antimatter, a container would have to be developed with an enormously powerful (electro)magnetic field and an high vacuum.
At any rate, the amount of antimatter required to destroy the world (even in just the sense of blasting its surface) is vast. The Tsar Bomba released an amount of energy equal to 2,3kg. While a hugely powerful weapon, not by far powerful enough to begin destroying the world. Also keep in mind that you need mass a power of 3 greater of each unit of radius you want to destroy, because you're working with a volume, not to mention that vast majority of the energy is radiated out into space, rather than added to the destructive radius.
The amount of antimatter required would likely run in the tonnes, which is a completely infeasible amount at this time, as it would likely take more time to generate than we will even exist, assuming you can keep it from touching anything in that time (you can probably see how a power outage would be catastrophic).

Even CSSC? O.o that one is hard to get one's hands on, apparently. I was fortunate enough to stumble upon WWADYFWBO for the retarded price of €2 at a music festival.. You can just buy the Deadmarch album from them, it was officially released a couple of months back. Good stuff. It's weird how Mia's vocals on that one are by far superior to the later albums, heh.

Hell, I just uploaded another TPH track from the new album. Again, from the website, so yeah. Besides, if anything, they'll be happy with the promotion (no, seriously, they actually communicate with fans about those things, just check the forums). It's not like I'm putting entire albums up.
Also, you're welcome. :p

I uploaded The Project Hate track. It's freely available for download on their website, so I can't think of any reason it wouldn't be allowed here.
And yeah, I listen to Darkspace. Quite a bit, actually. Only physically own one album (Darkspace II) but have all the rest in digital form. I love Darkspace III. Brutal, transcending. Great stuff. Paysage d'Hiver is pretty good, too, but like you mentioned, low soundquality, which I suppose is pretty common among "trve"/"kvlt" black metal bands, which in turn is why I hardly listen to them :D I ******* hate it, but it works for Paysage d'Hiver because the whole atmosphere of it is cold and bleak.
Haven't really come across any other decent ambient black bands. Then again, it's not necessarily my preference. Been enjoying the new albums by Behemoth, Nile and Swallow the Sun mostly as of late.
Oh, and the one from Anaal Nathrakh. Brutal stuff. Love it.

You, sir, fail. Anime is just as much of a cartoon as any other.

Ever heard of Karl Sanders? Guitarist and (backing) vocals for (the extreme technical death metal band) Nile, but he has a dark ambient side project, Egyptian style. Not quite like the "Northern" dark/black, but rather good nonetheless. Worth checking out.

Quite amazing. My only complaint would be that the clouds can't be separated from each other, even if they're miles apart, as the sun only lights the edges with the "god rays", though maybe this is something that's planned to be fixed?

Checked out Abruptum for a bit, but not really my thing. Too crappy production quality for my tastes :p what impresses me so about Darkspace is that they manage to create the "wall of sound" sought after by many BM bands without deteriorating into an incoherent mess of noise. Extreme blackness :)
With Paysage d'Hiver, while the sound is somewhat similar (though no "wall of sound"), the effect it has is different; it feels abandoned, alone and cold, ice and ice cold.

Do you mean female vocalists in the sense of grunting females, or death metal that also includes (clean) female vocals?
In case of the former: hardly.. Only ones I'm aware of are Otep (somewhat similar to Slipknot, so not really death metal), Astarte (all-female black metal band) and Arch Enemy.
In case of the later: it's a blurred line, but I'd recommend bands like Ram-Zet, The Project Hate MCMXCIX and Ador Dorath..
Note that of all those mentioned above only one or two really classify as actual death metal, but as I mentioned, it's a blurred line anyway.

It somewhat reminds me of Lustmord, but a lot more empty in sound. Too many periods in which there's hardly anything to hear, in my opinion. Some more haunting tones and/or deep bass rumble would really help, I think.

Welp. I'm not a very experienced musician (I can play the piano, but composing not so much..), but I do love the dark ambient genre.
For the group's purpose, how far does it stretch? Purely dark ambient, or could for instance ambient black metal also be considered relevant? Things like Darkspace or Paysage d'Hiver..
