Yeah this is the one that did the trick.
Basically you don't want to touch HDR cause Redux settings are good enough, but you can play around with bloom, and soft shadows :)
You need to have acces to the console for that, r_useBloom or r_useSoftShadows to 1 enables the effects, to change parameters, it starts with r_Bloom or r_SoftShadows, hit tab to see the possible commands. For example r_SoftShadowsBlurScale 0.5
Hello ! I have bad news, soft shadows is broken above 1080p... I'm trying to edit the .vpf files that starts with ss to tweak for adjustments, but I don't understand a thing about shader code... looks like PARAM are the actual variables, but I have no idea how things interact with each other..
GUYS I'VE FOUND HOW TO DO IT FOR SIKKMOD ! YOU HAVE TO UNPACK THE OPTIONAL .PAK FILE IN YOUR REDUX FOLDER AND THEN THE CONSOLE COMMANDS WILL BE AVAILABLE !

Be careful for some reason Soft Shadows have it's scale to 8 instead of 0.5, put it back to 0.5 ^^
EDIT : Damn the soft shadows shader seems to be broken above 1080p, at 1080p it works very well but above it's glitchy..

I just moved the sikkmod file into the folder, but it never loads sadly.. its just the basic renderer
EDIT : Actually maybe it DOES work... but there is no options for it, to tweak sikkmod's shaders

It's fine :D Since you're there I could give you a bit more insight, For example the first thing I noticed while playing the mod, is the removed creepy noises at garbage (and also some other locations, I feel they gave you a nice sense of insecurity for some reason).
Aside from that honestly, I'm just a long time stalker player, and I think I've been used to some sounds way too much so it's hard for me to accept differences ^^
I can't stress enough how the updated vehicles in the optional gamedata are so much better... they can be even better I think (they are too slow and headlights are too short, easily fixable by editing of course) but at least they are USEFUL, since we have guides now if the vehicles are too fragile and slow they are just useless !
So, I tried the mod, and I shall say, while some ideas are interesting, and especially the optional minimods that you can individually pick are definitely a great addition, I don't like the mod (base gamedata), I think it changes too many things and the game doesn't feel the same as a result.. Some changes are also weird, why completely disable the possibility of having head boobing (forced off), while the base game already let you choose (on/off) ?
I'm sorry I'm not sure I understood your message, do you mean you are going to merge this mod (most of it) into the public 1.4008 release ? (this would be great of course !)
Also while I'm at it, do you think it is possible to make sun shafts less strong in general ? I really love the effect, but it's a bit too strong !

I rate this an 8/10 (while being hard on rating) but I rated it 10/10 on moddb to give it some visibility, it was very well done and enjoyable for the most part :)
It's definitely not an easy CS though, but I'm the hardcore type so nothing to complain about here ^^

As for the water, I'm having the same visual feedback, honestly I think that's just their SSR shader which sadly really sucks. Hope they will improve it in the future, having SSR reflections in water is a pretty cool idea :)
damn.. it looks like it's not tied to distance but more to shadow map mipmap levels, only the highest res shadow map is producing grass shadows, I believe that in stalker SoC 1.0002 (the last official release to support it) shadows on grass was supported at all mipmap levels, but I may be wrong.
Also, it's really neatpicking, but grass isn't producing shadows with the flashlight or other dynamic light sources than sun. Maybe I'm asking too much from the x-ray engine ^^
God I wished the GSC Game World devs had the time to rewite the engine and make it at least dual core compliant ^^
DX11 will almost always be better, always use DX11 when possible.
I have the same problem, I hope devs will fix the mod / game.
DX11. Always DX11. DX10 was a failure and even Microsoft recognised it.
As for antialiasing (if you have a gtx 1060 or more cause it's very hard on ressources) you should always use "prefer DX10.1" and use DX10.1 transparency MSAA.
Guys, I noticed Shadows from Grass (r2_sun_details) is missing in the launcher options, I've enabled it through the console and it works fine, but the grass shadows distance is very limited, is there a way to increase it ? thanks !

I did a run in 1.4005 recently, it was pretty amazing, a very interesting experience I shall say, pretty stable too (for a project like this) and the improvements compared to 1.4003 were very noticeable, if they do the same for 1.4007 we should have a pretty interesting game to play :)
Hopefully the endgame will get better though because in 1.4003 it was very buggy and empty. Didn't see it in 1.4005 though.
