S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Chernobyl

Mod review

This is probably some of the best experiences with STALKER that I've had since first getting the games. With such a variety of add-ons that people have been posting, how fluid the levels from different games mesh together, to the quick and well mannered responses of the supporting staff of the mod; it's not surprising to see how CoC got Mod of the Year.

Mod review

With a new beginning come a new review. Once again, I'm blown away. The new art style of the mod looks fresh and snappy (in the good way). Animations are fluid, realistic, and fun to watch. There were some in the 2.5 version that while they worked, they seemed lacking. Such as the MP5; which is now a lot better (can't resist the HK slap noise). In the previous version, some of the more powerful weapons were fairly easy to get from the beginning, but now with the rebalanced economy and new set up with some of the NPCs, the progression builds a whole lot better. That being said, with a new beginning comes some new issues, but most of what I have noticed is either already fixed, or a patch is underway. If you follow the read.me files closely, being sure to read all of them before you do anything, set-up is pretty quick and painless. There has been some stuttering, and my game did crash once during a loading screen; but that was due to my own machine or personal error, not the mod. I highly doubt I will ever be able to play STALKER without a version of this mod ever again.
