Flags? :)

Some lights, maybe?

I really can't imagine anything else. Wonder what you guys (and gals, maybe?) came up with.

Oh, some not too flashy EVA-like, Cabal-like targeting reticule thingies? Similar to the ones that could be seen in the old CGI cut-scenes of earlier titles where they showed buildings from the view points of spy planes/drones/satellites...etc. Only, the reticules could be in the color of the teams.

Outlines, then? Sort of like in C&C4, though those detracted from the appearance of the already ridiculous looking units and...uh, I would have said structures, but...

Everything looks awesome, except those circles. I still find them VERY distracting. They ruin the look of... the bases, really.

The markings around the units look good; those incomplete circles look fine. But, all those 'thick' circles around all the structures detract greatly from the look. If it is possible, perhaps they should be made thinner, and perhaps made into incomplete circles, similar to those around units. Or perhaps only thinner, but transparent. Or leave them as thick as they are, but definitely give them some transparency, if that's possible.

Just want to give a little tip for aesthetics. NOD looks perfect with black, and GDI with grey in skirmish mode. The new colors were an excellent addition with this mod.

I went nostalgic and started playing C&C 3 a few days ago, with maxed out graphics and all (finally!). I'm running the TW Advanced mod.

But, what I wanted to mention is that it's nice to see these small settlements again, and I was reminded of them on the Slovenia mission, when I used my Shadows to land on some cliffs with crates and old buildings. More terrains of that type should be created and mission of that kind be...uh...scripted, I suppose. I prefer NOD, both for their stealthy hit and run, damage avoiding, faster and harassing style and for their slightly alien looking tech (not that I mind bringing back the old Tiberian Sun units and structures). Makes me want to have more missions of that type, with sneaking around, sabotage, hidden bases, extraction of stranded scout units...etc.

By the way, I wanted to ask modders (not just of this mod, but modders in general) if they could possible do anything with the AI, which is sadly still far from good.

Ok, understood. Then, may I suggest making the rings somewhat transparent.

But, why have rings around unselected units/structures? In my opinion, it just ruins the image of the battlefield/base, having all those circles around the place. Make them appear only when a unit/structure is selected as the health bar.

MattHunX - - 36 comments @ Silo doors opening....

Nah, the buildings look good. It's those rings around them, that are still a bit distracting. If they're meant to be the health bar, then good, just make them show up only when selecting said building/unit.

Nice! An improvement. It was suggested before, I think, that you should make those circles optional, though, so it can be turned on/off from a menu or with a button, especially when the buildings aren't selected. Or is it like that already?

NOD is reverse engineering alien tech, more specifically Tacitus tech, I imagine. So their units SHOULD look a little bit alien, which they do. Good job with the models.

The detail, on full resolution, especially on the lighting of the Hand of Nod(s) is amazing. They way the light reflects from the surface really makes it look like real-life hard concrete. Amazing. Small things like that can matter.

That concept art from CnC Den looks really good, sleeker, and just a teeny tiny bit Scrinesque. :)

If they feel they must alter the Stealth Tank they should go for that look. Probably lots of modeling work, though.

Too bulky. NOD should have sleeker, more streamlined units, that look a bit otherworldly as well, what with NOD's knowledge of Tiberium and the Tacitus, thus alien tech.

Original was better. I forgot what's the story behind the Venom, though. But, I like to think NOD copied GDI's Orca VTOL a bit. Unless this heli-version is a response to GDI's Hammerhead, but then NOD already had helis. ???

Sorry, but I think the original Nod Commando concept is far better. Just remove the eye-patches from that, and add some sort of visor or goggle on one eye for the purpose of it being a targeting assist device. And some leather, kevlar armor mix to cover more parts of her body and it'll be perfect. This design is isn't very tasteful.

Like 1.4 btw.

That looks quite nice, even in such a plain...um...rendition. Good concept. Bit of the iconic Nod pyramid in there as well.

Too bad you guys don't collaborate with other modder teams. For example, the Tiberium IceStorm mod has by far the best tiberium ever.

Moddb.com

You guys should think about merging at least some elements with other teams. It already makes EA's work pale in comparison. Think what would it be like then. Pure awesomeness. A whole new game.

Best Tiberium, ever. Too bad I never see modders from different projects collaborating. Like, putting together elements from Tiberian Sun Rising and Tiberian Eclispe, and Apocalypse.

Oh, yeah!

"Hey, what is tha-*BOOM*, oh a Titan with a laser...hm...Hey! That was a perfectly good Pitbull there! Damn NOD!"

LOL Could happen. Wolverines with gattling lasers, painted black, NOD insignia...*drool* Would actually make the Wolverine into a good unit.

You mean slap dark painting on captured GDI tech. Awesome. But, do infantry as well. I can just imagine Zone Raider chicks, in black armor, running along my convoy. Pure win.

Seem like a good, innovative idea for RTS games. Though, I think will miss the red highlights. It look good on some units and structures. I even had the Tactix mod where there was a white color and it looked really bad-*** on NOD, certainly quite bright and eye-catching, not stealthy, but good none the less.

But, yeah, having no colors, especially with NOD, all black and in stealth is a good idea.

What I really like in C&C 3 is the thing you can do with ordering units to take a formation or arrive and stop at a spot facing a certain way. That was left out of C&C4, much to my annoyance. A small thing, but can be useful.

At first I thought the circles were also showing health and perhaps direction of the cannons or whatever (like in those WWII games like Africa Corps Vs. Desert rats you could turn the turret for faster response when assuming a defensive, hold ground stance.

*drooling*

One problem though. The circles around the structures are very distracting. I have read you will make them dimmer, but they should only be around units. Or are they the health-bars as well, because that's fine, but should only show when you select them.

Hey you guys!

I have a suggestion for how the mutant's vehicle should look like. I'm watching the movie Gamer (2009) right now, and there are these snowplows or street sweeper vehicles with those giant, thick metal shields at the front.

That would be a good addition on the already existing model. More armor, and it could be a bit slower. Same thing should be done to Mutant Scavenged Mammoth tanks if you're thinking about adding those. There should be armor plates covering it at every possible spot. Should be be considerably slower than the regular GDI Mammoth, slower turning for the turrets, but just as powerful.

hm?

Damn!

I've been doing missions in Kane's Wrath and I noticed how ridiculous the AI is. Not only is it dumb, it's cheating as well. Walks around with some grenadiers and just chucks grenades at my SHADOWS! Stealth detections capability or not, sometimes it just knows where my stealth units. This is no way to be playing with NOD. Even though the AI "only" randomly cheats (e.g.: the Predators don't notice my Stealth Tanks) it's very annoying.

Hope you guys can tweak these things. Also, it's very annoying that every time I save the game the fog of war shrouds areas where my units were, as well deactivates beacons placed by Shadows for bombardment. Not sure if you can mess with the saving mechanics like that, though.

Would you want Joe Kucan to play Kane in a live-action C&C movie, though? I think he could pull of a real movie role, don't you? I mean, we're all so used to his mug, no one else should play him.
