Overwatch

Game review

Don't get me wrong, this Game is great (especially with friends), but Blizzard and the Chinese Government can just go rot and burn in hell.

I love my Video Games, but Human Rights come first for me, and I will not stand for Blizzards scummy knee-bent censorship of free speech...

The Dark Times

Mod review

A review is not necessary. Anybody who plays this mod should be able to recognize that this is what a 10/10 mod should be.

All of this is stolen content.

Focalpoint

Mod review

Simply put: This mod is quality.
The attention to detail, the fleshed-out environments, the level design, the scripted sequences - all can be summed up with the word "quality".
This mod may not give you a ton of weapons or have crazy combat sequences, but the atmosphere and level design suck you in so well that none of that is necessary. Exploring and solving tricky puzzles are what mainly make up this mod, but don't be fooled. There are still plenty of sequences that will make your heart race. The scripted sequences are so well done all the way to the very last moments that you will find yourself saying "wow" quite often. For the Goldsrc engine, this mod is just breathtaking. Even familiar areas are touched up and detailed - there is no lack of clutter or eye candy. This mod is definitely a treat to play through, and will truly give the events of the Black Mesa Incident a deeper impression on you. My only complaint is voice acting which is decent at best and fairly off at its worst, but that is forgivable when paired with the amazing environmetal storytelling. Easily a 10/10 - my favorite Half-Life lore based singleplayer Goldsrc mod out there.

Brutal Half-Life

It's simple: it's a classic game with a twist that is inspired by another twist on another classic game... and it's satisfying as ****. Excellent work so far.

Black Mesa: On a Rail - Loop Mod

Mod review

Just like On a Rail Uncut, this mod adds back cut content in a way that not only adds atmosphere, but detailed and wisely-built areas that are consistent with the already amazing Black Mesa mod. I consider the added content to be polished to perfection and professional. Not to mention, the On a Rail: Uncut compatibility is an extremely convenient perk, and I commend the author greatly for that as well. Excellent work!

[NEW] EDIT: I have looked at the bullet holes used later in the game, and they look around the same so I guess they don't really need improving. Better than to have them then not. Also, the vortigaunt and headcrabs don't always spawn as you're making your way back after being in the dead female scientist area. The reason is that the trigger is tied to the suit battery in the elevator which you don't always need. Also, the headcrab that jumps out of the vent needs to turn around once it lands. It never actually sees you unless you get close/fire at it. Additionally, after playing the newest update, I have found one more issue and have had another idea for an improvement. First, I believe you took my advice and added the red lights to some vents, as I don't remember them from my original playthroughs. However, they don't emit light in this version. I believe you would need to put light entities in or around the lights, but I'm not sure how the BMS team did it. Also, I see you took my recommendation of having the zombie bang his head on the wall, and it looks great. But you might want to make it so that you trigger his attention when you take a couple steps into the hallway, as he now never notices you at all. Also, just an idea: To the left of the zombie that was added at the end (who kills the guard in the beginning), swap the blue metal crate that's there with one of the blue pushable ones found in Office Complex so that it is easy to climb into the vent from that side, and add some props on top/around it to remove some of the emptiness of the hall . Also, put some guard gibs in the vent itself to show that the zombie killed the guard, and make the scientist say something when he opens the door. As a bonus, you could also fix the same zombie in the beginning of the chapter, as when he grabs the guard, the zombie doesn't go far enough into the vents and you can see his head disappear when the event ends. Still, some very nice improvements overall in the new version!

Black Mesa: Surface Tension Uncut

Mod review

Does exactly what it should. It adds the missing chapters of Surface Tension that Black mesa forgot in a way consistent to the rest of Black Mesa itself while still expanding, improving memorable moments, and adding extra secrets and ways to play. Not to mention, the mod incorporates the cut On a Rail soundtrack in an awesome aliens vs HECU battle scene. That alone makes a 10/10. Overall, this is the best way to watch the HECU marines get destroyed by Xenians and relive memorable moments with the Black Mesa vibe.
