Doom Slayer Chronicles

Mod review

Visually an extremly impressive mod. Even if some sprites have somewhat clashing artstyle, the mod established a really good atmosphere on its maps while being stunningly realistic, especially for a GZDoom mod.

If you want good gameplay, this NEEDS a gameplay mod. Brutal Doom, D4T, trailblazer, just something that makes the battles a lot of fun when increasing the enemy count. Otherwise the horde mode styled maps can get quite stale after a while.

It's kinda of a shame that the authors didn't go for classic level design, as it really hurt the gameplay. But as it was intended to be played with gameplay mod and still has some interesting sections to break up the pace, it's still enjoyable.

tl;dr: visually very impressive, gameplay is a bit lacking.

The Closure

Mod review

Very average. If you have played Leons map before then you know what you will be getting.
I hoped for some improvements from his other mods, but that wasn't the case and therefore I think the title for this map was a bad choice since people will expect a higher quality mod.

Pretty good to kill some time when you like to play some custom HL2 maps, otherwise nothing really special.

Brutal Doom

Mod review

Brilliant fast paced gameplay and delicious over-the-top gore. It's really a lot of fun, especially when playing coop with friends.
Now an option for unlimited blood decals would be perfect.

Transmissions - Element 120

Mod review

While the performacne could be better, the gameplay was fresh and fun. A lot of destructable things and physical objects which are flying around, while you rocket jump and blowing enemies up. That creates chaotic and fast paced action.

Below the Ice

Mod review

It had some nice little puzzles, but the design is extremly basic. At least the displacements could have used a bit more effort.
