My name is Kole Hicks and by profession I’m an Audio Designer (Music Composition/Sound Design) with a focus in games. Feel free to visit my site for more information & to listen to my previous work.
Great new direction. Very evocative & unique.
Haha, I can confirm that this Kole fella doesn't have a beard... yet. It's a WIP.
Gorgeous. The clouds "make it" & set the tone for me.
I love how the music plays against the action! You'd definitely expect high intensity Rock, Metal, or Electronic music... but this completely caught me off guard. Refreshing & a bit humorous :)
Very interesting! What platforms are you planning to release on?
Well Done! The bridge sound has a nice amount of wood "stress" & a heavy thud (in the sand) for the impact. I like how the intensity of the arrow trap increases as you get closer as well.
For your sound system, do you have lots of little impact/collision sound files randomized when they interact with the environment or player? Also, are there any plans to use those colliders for specific music cues?
Appropriately Melodic & yet Eery piece of music. Nicely done & good choice of instrumentation!
Love the concepts, looking forward to seeing this develop further!
Great re-design & good usage of colors.
Ah... black, white, & green... my favorite colors. Fantastic concept!
As always, a fine update with great looking maps!
Thanks for the kind words; glad to hear you've enjoyed it so far!
Thanks, glad to hear you enjoyed the excerpt!
Thank you. Hmm... not sure what you're referring to as 'generic'... the Timpani or perhaps the many different Frame Drums? The Timpani is a bit further back in the mix, but we decided to bring the Frame drums forward a bit for creative reasons. Unfortunately the music tends to lose a bit of it's momentum if they're placed in a manner consistent with a concert performance. Glad to hear you like the music overall though!
Thanks! Oh... lots of different stuff :) Main DAW is Protools & a combination of many different libraries: LASS, Requiem, Cinebrass etc.
Nice, I really like the 2nd idea of moving from cabin to cabin as you approach the city.
Looks great! Nice to see a gameplay video. Music may need to be lowered a bit, as it sounded as if it was clipping in the video... however that could just be a video issue & not necessarily existent in-game.
Great work, Benjamin!
Fantastic report... it's looking better & better each update.
Fun! Enjoyed the Melody featured in that piece.
Interesting idea with the soundboard and nice videos.
Nice Trailer! The Inception-influenced music fit quite well... did your composer create that or was it licensed from a library?
Clever idea for a game and nice concept art!
Haha, yes I am. Composer/Sound Designer, feel free to PM if you have any music questions.
The video looks really nice, well done! I think the music fit pretty well too... are you going to have your composer stick to a similar style?
Nice Beethoven feel to the piano piece for the 'Carriers' reveal.
I second that... beautiful work so far!
Yup, good job developing it as well.
Nice character and story behind the eye... it'll be interesting to find out what advantages/disadvantages that may have for his sight.
You said it, Cnaff. Simple, but it looks like fun. I'm looking forward to hearing some of the zombie SFX and if I may throw out a suggestion...
If you have the space/time/budget for it, different music styles for different hollywood sets (maybe variations on the main theme) would be great. It'd be fun to hear Spaghetti Western Music w/ the associated set, Orchestral Adventure for any "Indiana Jones" sets , etc.
