a short, but enjoyable mod where you use meat guns in a meat world to fight meaty bad guys. the aesthetic is definitely the selling point here, even if the level design is pretty standard (gameplay-wise. visually they're fantastically morbid)

the good ending is really satisfying too, it makes me not wanna try for the bad one cuz i liked it so much

brilliant map design and environmental storytelling combined with fun and balanced enemy encounters make this a must-play for any fan of half-life 1. my only real issue is how a few of the weapon sounds were replaced like the MP5 and desert eagle firing sounds, but that's just a personal preference. otherwise, this mod is basically a Fun-Sized echoes; a modern classic.

what remains is an excellent expansion that retains the best aspects of the episode 2 formula while also taking you and alyx to locations that haven't been seen in the outlands before. it's not mindblowing like more ambitious projects, but it's an enjoyable return to half-life 2's setting

Gameplay-wise, this mod is fairly standard, but I think the sound design really sticks out as the strongest point. Picking up HEV batteries has never been more satisfying.

An incredible 2-3 hours of Half-Life 1 action and puzzle solving. Sure, some may have grown tired of "alternate PoV Black Mesa" stories, but the superb mapping and attention to detail in Echoes is not to be underestimated. A must-play for any HL fan.
