Don't worry. I don't plan on debating any further on mblock versus parry combat as far as which is faster, prettier, and more balanced;p I did that with Stroiss to wits end, lol! It looks like you've learned to code and have added alot more features and that's good to hear. You've got a long, tiring, but often fun time of balancing and promoting your mod ahead of you. I'll test it out when I have the time.

Sadly, the OJP team has almost completely given up on development and if 1.3 is ever released, it will probably be the last build with that team and will need a new home if it is ever continued. If I can find the time I may still watch over it, but there may not be much new happening for it. It was [ractically balanced enough to be its own game anyways so Its probably just as well that it ends in development for now.

Since this is an SP mod, it is restricted to the SP source code which is not available. I only graphical things like maps, effects and models can be changed or moded without the SP source code. The closest thing You'll get to playing SP maps with an altered saber system is OJPs Coop mode (which can also play any single player map to an extent included newly created SP maps, but not always without glitches) or changes certain animation to block, but this doesnt really work very well.

Is that that animation cfg that allows you go into a blocking stance rather than a lean and a higher blocking factor set(much better than base but nothing like OJP in setup), or did you litterally find a way outside of coop to put the OJP code into single player? If Option 2, how in the world did you do that without the single player SVN released?! That would be amazing.

I'm not a developer of this mod, but I have some background in sabersystem design in and some coding in OJP.

"I've tried OJP and found it rigid and unintuitive" huh? Have you even read the manual or gotten trained, or did you did you just try to figure it out your self like most noobs? Watch some OJP vids an youtube of veteran fights and tell me if it still looks rigid and inintuitive ;p OJP took several years to evolve to where it is and any vet knows its fast, extremely balanced, and only unintuitive if you have no idea what your doing. Learn to parry, its really not that hard, you can do it as you swing, and makes the combat faster than anything that can be done with a manual block. Anyhow..

About your idea, the idea in how its set up is intreging, but mouse sabering been discussed on the OJP forums in the past. Lucasforums.com . It will take a huge amount of code and animation and it would lag the controls since the code and animations are not set up for it. OJPs former chief coder, razorace, said it wouldnt work well for many reasons and I doubt darthdie has interest in it. kurgans second post on that thread pretty much says it all about mousesabering. Unless something has changed recently, stroiss doesnt have any permanent coding resources yet anyway so its a long uphill battle for him sadly.

If you would like to debate me on design, you can PM me your IM address at teh OJP forums, and debate via IM as stroiss has and manual blocking versus parrying, but just remember, I've been doing this a long time xD (does evil laugh ;p)

I dont suppose this mod will do anything about BF2s horribly unmovierealistic sabercombat will it? That new combo setup sound interesting. The saber combat is the one reason I havent left JKA. Good luck with the mod.

Ah HA! Decent job recreating mustafar. Its the most accurate in layout of the mustafar maps so far. Interesting, please tell me your not going to use base jkas horrible unmovierealistic sabercombat for this mod? LOL. Oh well, I'm sure some will go for it either way. A straight duel mod definitely has some appeal. Good luck. Btw, are you teh same wector who made teh new mustifar map? I actually used that for an OJP video ;)

you need to set it up either with the dedicated server on yes when you start your game on a coop map or set it up in your OJPEnhancedServer.cfg so it starts on the map. Open it up by left clicking on it and go to 'edit' and look how the maps are described in it at the bottom. Your on your own from there since I'm not sure what the command for coop is, but to find the map name, look in your OJP_Coop link in your docs folder/

its impossible to play normal single player with any code changed saber combat because the single player SDK was never released. But if you have someone whos good at map scripting or just scripting in general, you MIGHT be able to use OJPs coop to play through the levels in a certain order back to back. No level select like in single player... though if you play around witht he coop code, you migh be able to make a scripted level select and progress save. coop does haev sort of a very basic gamesave feature.

Sorry I didnt see your comment at the OJP moddb until just recently :( Well, pretty much any model, but we're more concerned about making a yoda to correct size. We've added sort of a rough modelscale code in our own code, but we found it has some minor but troublesome hit detection issues with our new collision OJP code so we need to work on it or make it cheat protected so only movie makers will likely use it. If you would like to still share your code of it if you made it or have access to it, that would be cool too. Maybe we'll find its better. ;)

Well i just tried it out. Its fun fighting as yoda against the count, though the sabersystem is a bit questionable as far as how the block works thus far.. though, I'm use to OJP standards ;).I don't suppose you you could lend me the modelscale code? I'm thinking about putting it in OJP and creating a balance system with it. I'm sure or lead coder could figure it out how to do it, but it might save us some time. He's got his hands full as it is. Anyways, good luck with the mod.

A modified version of OJP's combat system? How are you guys modifying it just out of curiousity? I helped design OJP and I'm just wondering what changes you are going with. What ever you do, keep balance in mind and it'll will turn out ok, though it may not be as easy as you think from my experience ;) Good luck

Yes OJP is mostly multiplayer because it uses that side of the code, but it has the coop mode in order to play single player levels so if you know how to code, you could fake it with coop and scripting probably. But yeah unless you make it compatable, it probably won't work since the single player SDK is different and isnt released... hmm, since thats the case, you guys may have a very difficult time creating a new saber system without the single player code. I've heard its been done with binds or scripting, but I have no idea how. Good luck.
