Hi, I'm JP. I enjoy Sci-Fi, replayable and/or creative games. I'm a modder myself but we'll see if I upload anything.

I hope the 1.3 beta gets a public release one day, I love the mod but new infantry models were shown 7 years ago.

This is gorgeous. I also reccommend people check out other Doomerboards level sets, this might be my favourite but they're all wonderful in visuals and difficulty flow, imo.
I mean here's a screenshot from right at the start in Doom software renderer:

Oh it's like the anti tiberium sonic cannon in the Tiberium universe, love it.

Glad to see you working on this. Games Workshop has forgotten about Beastmen in 40K but you have not.

Hell yeah a Tau themed map, finally. As sorely needed as the couple Chaos maps that have trickled out over the last few years. I did find it can crash with a few AI, but I bet that's due to DOW's old engine. I appreciate your work.

I'm late but thank you for confirming that, it's a great mod and it and Unification deserve each other. It's basically on faction par already aside no titan.

These look like an auxillary infantry under the T'au as opposed to a new building line or selectable race, so I would only expect a presence maybe, above Vespid and slightly below Kroot.

JP193 - - 81 comments @ Finally, Renegade Guard Real

I typed a bigger thing first but don't want to come across as starting a fight, suffice it to say it's a fictional universe; almost everything is plot armour. One key example being Nurgle has diseases that instantly infect you for merely being near someone infected, even through walls. He could play Plague Inc on easy difficulty planet by planet if he wanted to. Tzeentch can predict all possible futures yet didn't push an asteroid towards Terra before humanity started colonising planets.

The Imperium can wipe out the T'au, even tabletop T'au mains will admit it, but the T'au blunt Ork and Tyranid threats and don't care about xenociding humans or assassinating the Emperor so it's not worth the cost-reward.

Late reply but kinda so was the above: I think they primarily mean the Imperial Guard army skins, they're also in the works for non-Farsight Tau I think.

I really respect all the custom assets and ports, and allowing them as modder resources is a cool move on top.

I respect your diplomatic way of putting it, often came off as rude when modders are just like "when it's done stop asking". You probably do get asked a lot but it's surely from innocent curiosity and well, these screenshots are some of the best cells I've seen in any Skyrim mod so natural to be hyped.

This is a sub-mod for ROTR, not Shockwave. You'd have to run either mod's launcher separately. You can have both installed (though I find big mods break things and recommend GenLauncher) but that's not really "on" Shockwave just beside it.

Thank you, I've beaten Halo 2 Legendary solo, (which is infamous for being kind of rushed out without checking for difficulty spikes) and some of the GDI missions post-patches are straight up harder. It's definitely at least mostly the Tiberium too, because the game expects you to hold off spawned in enemy waves with a tib field but I keep finding myself out of both tiberium and money despite tryharding with years of RTS muscle memory.

It still won't be perfect, like sometimes the AI will suddenly rush you when you're still at riflemen level and **** like that but at least I won't have to pinch pennies now.

I'm sure they'll eventually get to it, maybe little by little. I am actually glad the recolour/kitbash route allows us to get three whole factions in the next major update.
Quick edit: Yeah there's some unique building sprites in the 'Legends' article.

JP193 - - 81 comments @ Unification Mod - Dawn of War: SoulStorm

I just want to say I'm really excited for the Death Guard. We've now got really fun, high quality races for Tzeentch, Slaanesh and Khorne but lacking Nurgle who I think would have a unique playstyle even to fight against.
There's other things to be excited about too, like I noticed the Farsight Enclaves mod was revived and the author trying to finish and roll it into Unification. Sounds like Dawn of War is going to have another golden age.

I was never really worried, but glad to read an update. I mean this is moddb, sometimes a mod is "in active development" then you see the last upload was 2015, so a couple months of somewhat quietness didn't really phase me especially with those awesome screenshots trickling in.

Oh it's a very good shader and preset, definitely not complaining. The only issues come from it being a pretty new Reshade effect, and also the age of the game hinders it by not giving great lighting to work with in the first place.

I think those unlit rooms are where it shines because it gets a lot darker and moodier rather than just flat.
Looks fantastic on Coruscant if anyone wants a test map recommendation.

I'm probably too late to help directly, but you need the 1.3 patch (I think also included in the remaster mod series, maybe) and it'll add "fake console" to your pause menu.

JP193 - - 81 comments @ In-Game Skin Changer

If you're using one of the various side replacement mods, skins that replace the texture won't take effect. Though I remember that some skins just don't do anything anyway, I suppose due to being WIP.
(Late reply but others may be wondering.)

JP193 - - 81 comments @ In-Game Skin Changer

Hey man, if you lack the time to mod, especially a game that's become niche in its age, perhaps you could get in touch with HarrisonFog, as his remaster series includes a skin changer that is, obviously, designed to work with his HD units and is only lacking in quantity, which you have.

I remember really liking the skins in this pack in about 2016, but if all you can make time for is a teaser every 2/3 years, I'm sure Harrison (or someone from the various Discords) would be pleased to collaborate or carry the torch.

I'm tracking in case you do return to it some day, I actually really enjoyed it and after looking at what else you and J.Pikes have made, this is one of your best works, meant purely as a compliment. The idea of map-specific rebels is a good one, I especially liked the reactivated droids or units based off campaign missions.
Though I imagine the mod is a large undertaking and it's pretty polished/finished already.

JP193 - - 81 comments @ Screen Space Ray Tracing

Not the author, but it just calculates based on bright objects visible on screen, so yeah it'll work. Should actually be very nice with shields actually.

I would suggest the mod Shader Patch for pixel lights (more realistic, rounder lighting) but it has its own d3d9.dll so I think you can only have that or Reshade at a time. Would love to be wrong about that though.

Edit: After some testing it really does look great! Using the debug visualisation option thing I can confirm blasters and shields affect it. However it's very subtle.
I'd say generally where the preset shines isn't with light but with shadow. Unlit corridors actually look unlit.

Probably too late to help directly but yep. At least in the sense nothing will break. Also if you use any reshade or the shaderpatch they'll work.
As for retextures I don't think they'll take effect on custom maps. They won't crash your game but a lot of maps have their assets packed inside, based off of vanilla textures.

These two videos are so like... Noughties cinematic. Heavily reminded of old animated RTS main menu backgrounds (e.g. C&C Generals) with that sort of cinematic camera gameplay thing.
My only issue was already mentioned (the loud beep) so yeah, just a cool map. Love how the buildings are put together for sure.

The grittier, militaristic direction is a good choice. Helps differentiate them further from Quarians and the dark styling conveys they're not a council race while looking plain graphically nice.
