Heh... well the next thing I tried worked for 3D... kind of.

I installed this Deus Ex DX9 compatability mod which will permit nVidia 3D mode to activate and also ermit the game to display in 3D offset.

My user status will not permit me to post a link but if you google "An enhanced OpenGL renderer for Unreal Tournament" anyone who wishes to try 3D Deus Ex will find the DX9 mod.

3D does work under DX9 but the GUI is very broken.

Using the advanced setting in nVidia I can use the "Decrease Convergence" command to make the GUI behave but it also reduces the 3D effect. I also have to run in 5:4 aspect ratio but that was the way the game was made so it isn't any great loss for me.

I will try to find some means to make the GUI behave better and permit a better 3D experience but I fear this will not bear fruit as the problems of a 2D GUI over a 3D game play environment are well known. Even with my very brief experience with 3D I've seen this same issue in every game I've played = just to a lesser effect in other games.

So the 3D is active... but for a gameplay experience I believe I'll stick with your mod and 2D as the ultimate in Deus Ex goodness.

Thank you for your reply Dave.
And thank you for this fantastic mod!

This is very new tech for me so perhaps, with time, I'll learn some tricks to make it bend it to my will. :p

In the mean time I still have the 2D. :)

Wonderful work on this mod to my favorite game.

I've been unable to get it to run in 3D mode though and was hoping someone could offer some advice.

I have an ASUS VG278H monitor with built in nVidia 3D Vision support using an nVidia GTX570 GPU under Win 7 pro 64bit.

I have installed the GOTY version with New Vision, DX 10 and Kentie installer.

When I run the game under the DX 10 mod mode the 3D activates (will not activate in Direct 3d or OpenGL mode) indicating 3D vision has detected a compatible source but Deus Ex does not actually go into 3D display.

I have changed all "volumetric lighting" settings to "false" in the .ini file and turned crosshair off as the 3D vision suggests.

I just got this monitor this week and it works in other games but my experience level is very low with this tech.

I have played through Deus Ex many times and would like to try it as a new 3D experience so if anyone has any suggestions it would be much appreciated.
