Fully agreed. 1.13 is without a doubt the greatest mod for JA2 and one of the most ambitious projects for any game, but it has become a new game altogether. Going back to vanilla/stracciatella feels very refreshing to me.

Development has slowed down a bit recently... However, nightly builds (plus always newest stable release) are available here:

JA2's UI can take a bit of time getting used to. However, there are buttons for the most common actions (including change stance and switch firing mode) when having character view enabled (not squad view).
Most importantly, there are shortcuts for just about EVERY action. They are however not rebindable atm...

Brutal Doom is a great mod and totally deserves a high rank. It's really sad how a handful of people always have to throw **** at it because they don't like it's dev.
Everyone who has followed the story behind the hate knows, that it basically comes down to some "community members" being butthurt because someone actually managed to breathe new life into an old game and create a mod that is good and famous.

The 1.13 mod doesn't work with Stracciatella. Basically, all mods that bring their own EXE won't work with Stracciatella.

But nice to hear, that you could figure out a way to get things running ;)

JA2 Stracciatella should work with GOG-version the same way as with Steam-version and original CD-version.

You need to change the data-path in ja2.ini

The turn-based gameplay is one of the most distinctive features of Jagged Alliance 2. Actually, it is a core game-mechanic that makes people love+play the game in the first place.
As far as I remember, there was an attempt and some experimenting with removing the TB gameplay some years ago in the v1.13 project. But it didn't turn out into something useful.

True. The PPSh was added by a mod. JA2 Stracciatella is easily moddable. No coding needed if you want to add custom weaponry to the game.

Well, seems like this ambitious project is on it's way to drift into obscurity only shortly after it's release.

That's very sad and the way, this mod (aka DLC) was released definitely leaves a sad impression for what could have been a milestone in DeusEx modding.

When SE approached you with this "request", why didn't you play with open cards and reveal this info to the community? Not in order to discuss it, but just in order to be honest and unconcealed.
I guess, the shitstorm would've been not half as bad as it was.

WL2 was raw around the edges and felt a bit clumsy at times. But I still enjoyed it and am really looking forward to re-playing it now.
I think Brian Fargo mentioned, that the DC version of WL2 is more like the "should have been like this right from the start"-version of WL2...
It's so good that this is a free upgrade.

go for some big game hunting. Slaughtering all those bloodcats and taking their teeth, claws and hide to the mercahant.

Being able to mod your guns is a really cool feature.

I remember, back in the days (1999), these explosions looked awesome!
Still, 2d games age way better than early 3d games...
