Hm, could be the time of day? I haven't been doing anything especially different with the colours other than trying to make them pop when I can. What are your thoughts?

Nailing a concrete visual style is something that's had to take a back seat while I put all my attention in to engine/programming work - so any palette changes at the moment (better or worse) are purely accidental I assure you =P

Thanks! I've actually had to take a big step back from art for the last year, but I try and chip away at it a little as I go. The project's current character artist is real talented though so I'm looking forward to being able to show some of his work (Like this sabre! I.imgur.com )

Oh gosh - After you pointed that out I just realised the floor was supposed to be wooden boards and it ended up with a stone wall texture haha. Thanks! Cheers for the kind words, too =)

Yes!! VA isn't our most pressing concern at the moment, but we will definitely need them in the future, so any time is good.

Yuss - thanks for the comment though! We plan to have all these rigged up with nice ropes eventually. That'll be a while yet though.

Thanks for the comment!

I doubt Tempest will return to being single-player any time soon. Our design is first and foremost multiplayer. Maybe some day though?

Thanks for checking us out! Glad you like the look of it. The Cryengine build is extremely buggy yes - we're hoping starting again in Unreal engine will fix all this.

In the Cryengine build you cannot use the cannons personally, but they will open fire on any hostile targets themselves.

As for the Gunsmith, you'll need to look at the items on the counter to purchase them. (If you do, they'll spawn on the counter, usually to your right)

Hope this helps!

Thanks! Running around the ships turning the lanterns on/off is weirdly satisfying

Thanks for asking! We're well aware that our intro has a lot of problems with telling the player what to do. In order to get out of the tavern, the player needs to either get black out drink by ordering lots of rum at the bar, or by stealing food from a particular table and being shot in to unconsciousness. Both ways are pretty unclear! This intro was devised for our singleplayer iteration only so it won't appear in our final version. Check out the video here for more information: Youtube.com
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the comment! Our main menu is actually how you describe it, it is an in-game scene with the ship sailing from right to left. We've been experimenting with randomising the contents of the scene as well. Thanks for the other suggestions though! We will take them in to account, I especially like the idea of having the writing desk as a menu, that way we could put the buttons on to the map on the desk.

We will hopefully have our singleplayer demonstration build released within the month (May), there's still lots of work to do though. I'll be sure to make a news post as and when though. Thanks! =)

The beige maps on the desk and on the wall are objects the player can draw on with their map drawing tools. Both maps are updated as the player draws, and the player can use them to help navigate. There's a couple videos of how this works kicking around. Zack explains it best in this one: Youtube.com

Less time than you'd think! I did consider hand-making some mosaic tiles in photoshop, but I was able to find lots of royalty free images via wikimedia that were high enough quality to use after some touch ups in photoshop.

Both the floor and ceiling tiles don't have bump or spec maps yet, but I'll get to creating some to give them a nice sheen.

Thanks! Lighting areas can be difficult especially since we have a persistent day/night cycle. So we need to make sure everywhere looks good at all times of the day.

Thanks for checking us out =)

Heya, thanks for the comment. We've got some soundtrack in the works, along with a pretty rudimentary faction reputation system. As for ticking off other stuff on your list, we've got naval fights, a tavern with alcohol, and a whole lotta exploration to do as well. As for a third person camera though we'll be sticking to a first person perspective on this one. Hope this helps!

Cheers Pieter, It's been coming along nicely over the last couple days, I'm furnishing the fort now so I'll be posting a few more updated shots in our gallery. Jamming styles together has probably been the funnest part of creating the islands, and we've started getting some accompanying soundtrack for the islands now as well.

Thanks again for checking us out, hope HoO is going well!
