I am the founder of DBolical and creator of ModDB, IndieDB and SlideDB. My aim is to make it easier for gamers to find great games/mods no matter their stage of development. And more importantly give game/mod developers a place to share their work and grow their fanbase - without being dependent on press/editors gatekeeping the important news sites. If you have any ideas or suggestions, hit me up I am always available to talk with the community.
Yes and no: All maps must be comprised of only original content created by the Entrant(s), or content already contained in Killing Floor 2 and the Killing Floor 2 editor. That means that no part of the map, including but not limited to, models, entities, audio files, textures or any other content can be taken, derived or ported from any other game or third party map.
Assets from other games or maps cannot be used, but other assets if you have rights to redistribute them and mention + credit it in the description as part of your submission - we recommend you submit it, and we will check it is eligible within the rules while judging. We cannot say it will be eligible, but no harm will be done submitting it.
So beautiful
Love the in-depth posts like this, great detail here. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks :)
Love the name of this
The mod kits are for developing mods, not distributing them
Great post, it's good to see indie developers really maturing now
Thanks for sharing, got to archive the mods to prevent loss!
It appears to be the future
A person from press reached out to me about your main staircase video. I told them to get in touch with you, but can pass on their email if you are interested?
This is dead and archived. The file in question is not legit, we have removed it. If you have installed it, we recommend you update your windows defender and anti-virus to ensure if anything was installed it is removed. You can also uninstall it by following these steps:
1) reboot your pc into safe mode (WITHOUT networking), as it appears this includes a RDP wrapper (Remote Desktop)
2) delete RDP wrapper from wherever it got installed. This is possibly the same directory as where the pokegen folder got placed, but it might be easier to just search for it through file explorer.
3) go into your programdata folder. I thought I was done by deleting RDP wrapper but nope, there were more files waiting for me there (one was called AMMYY). Best thing to do is just delete the folders that have been installed there since the day that you installed pokegen. Some of these viruses hide as legit-looking folders. If you installed anything in your programdata on your own since that time, be sure you know which folder it was in.
Cliche question for me, but what are your thoughts on modding?
What is igg-games?
So great to hear :)
Thanks - few hiccups along the way, a lot learnt but we are better for it, for sure!
Thanks Klon116 we'd love to back any project you create :D
It was a perfect fit, the game is inspired by mod heavy titles, games like it are very popular with our community, and they are trying to build really interesting functionality around mods and the mod.io API (such as when you go exploring in space you can encounter random artifacts that are made entirely by modders).
Cheers - we've been building in this direction for a long time now, creating communities, tools and more, so it makes perfect sense for us.
It's hard to overlook the incredible ideas that have come from this community. I wonder how many of those never made it to the next stage due to a lack of support?
Hopefully we can change that as it all ties in with our grand vision with Mod.io - so it seems to be a no-brainer win/win opportunity for us and the select few games/mods we can back.
The logic to follow, to see where your map fits is:
The Survival category is restricted to the base game mode, “Survival”. We encourage you to implement “VS mode” and “Stand your Ground” into standard “Survival” maps, but it is not mandatory.
The “Non-Survival” category includes the other game modes: “Hold Out”, “Endless”, and any custom mode, provided that the mode is playable using an existing supported game-type as provided in the “WorldInfoProperties” of the map.
If you make a map that is eligible for both “Survival” and “Non-Survival” you can submit your map into both categories, but the map can only receive one prize total.
That's right - i'm backing this project now as thanks :D
Congrats on the latest demo - super stoked to see it, downloading now :D
As per the rules "All maps must be comprised of only original content created by the Entrant(s), or content already contained in Killing Floor 2 and the Killing Floor 2 editor. That means that no part of the map, including but not limited to, models, entities, audio files, textures or any other content can be taken, derived or ported from any other game or third party map.".
It sounds like the content you are using is available publically in the official game which permits its use.
Congratulations to all winners - looking forward to seeing these come out, including the honorable mentions (you cannot win upcoming twice unless mitigating circumstances allows it)

Article is fixed, sorry about the hassle!
Congratulations to our 2018 Editors Choice winners!
Congratulations to our 2018 Editors Choice winners!
Love this piece, making a mod is one of the hardest things you can do. Mods that have made the transition are all overwhelmingly successful, DayZ, BattleRoyale, DotA, CS are the popular ones, but that's forgetting Insurgency, Squad, Chivalry and so many others that have done something similar.
I'm actually exploring this space and considering investing / helping / publishing mod teams that want to commercialize their project - reach out if you'd like to discuss.
Fixed - sorry about that!
