Johnny vs God: an academic indie game

IcyTotem Blog

My name is Nicolò (“Nick” is just fine) and I am currently attending the first year of my master of science in computer engineering at Politecnico di Milano, in Italy. Among the courses that I’ve chosen there is also “Videogame design and programming”. This course requires us to develop a playable game demo, but its true aim is that of creating enjoable and original games. For this reason, many students keep on programming until the game is finished. Actually, a good number of videogames which started during this course became pretty famous: some examples are “In verbis virtus”, “Bad blood”, “Dirty little bunnies” and others.
One of the strong suggestion we received from our professor is that of keeping a development diary (in the form of blogs, podcasts or youtube channels), which will aid us in spreading the word about our games and create a solid userbase. This is also a powerful medium to obtain quick and frequent feedbacks on the game during its early stages.
