But... this is a Riptide, just with different arms and an armored head.

Maybe the whole Reaganomics thing? People tend to say that the policy decayed the U.S' economy after the initial benefits.
They aren't AI controlled, there are human brains inside controlling them.
You're not the only one. Getting one troop box still makes my wallet weep.
I'm pretty sure the battle-suits use seated cockpits, don't see how anyone could pilot in a fetal position but to each their own.
I think Atlas would be a good name for this one, considering he was the titan that held up the sky in mythology; it would fit the UEF naming system pretty well too.
There's a few names I can recommend for this, Tiamat (like someone else has stated already), Ryōjin (Literally meaning Dragon God), Abraxas, Apophis, Azhi Dahaki, Fafnir, Jormungandr, or you could just pick a random god's name or something.
The OFFICIAL Tomb Stalker is a forge world created unit, it looks like a centipede and is already in game; Google it.
Thanks for the info, was hoping that would be the case. On a semi unrelated note, I'm really liking Ahriman's new color scheme. It makes him seem more intimidating than his last one.
Personally Shogun II was my favorite, Empire seemed the most boring to me. But hey, different time periods equals different flavors for each person, so I respect your opinion.
I hope they pour the same amount of effort they put in Shogun II into the Warhammer game. Whatever your qualms against game-play were you have to admit the animation was top notch.
Damn, I must say I'm impressed. By the way Chomper are you thinking of doing renegade guard (Forgeworld look) later on if you have time? Considering its men of war I personally thought it would be easier to use as a faction than Chaos marines or other races.
Wyvern is just another name for dragon, technically a different type of dragon that is specifically English. But if there is a need for a name change there are plenty of mythological dragon names to go around. For example Fafner, Jörmungandr, Typhon, Tiamat, there's a whole list here En.wikipedia.org
Personally I love the new look, a lot more menacing compared to the previous versions. If you need some inspiration for this unit/ future units these models I plan on getting have a pretty nice look to them.

They are technically machines so they're overall designs should be able to give some ideas for future units.
Don't spiders have eight legs not six? But I do agree that it seems kind of spider like, if you guys decide on a spider name for this you can call it "Arachne" or something.
On the topic of the actual model there's not much I can say, looks amazing. Though I do feel like it needs more dakka personally. You know what they say, the bigger the robot, the bigger the guns; or simply more of them.
Surprising the anime does fit with the Grim Darkness of 40k... Seriously that was one Fu**ed up show; really depressed the hell out of me.
Hey that "pwned" Thousand Sons dude managed to take out a daemon all by himself (At the time where nobody really knew about daemons or how to fight them) while injured, give the guy some credit.
It's more like Necron's are the futuristic Tomb Kings. Tomb Kings were made first, then GW made the Necrons as their equivalent for the 40k verse.
Why would a plane be blocky? While the visual look of the UEF land units have always been blocky, the air units have been like this since SupCom1, though I do admit the edges might be a bit sharp, maybe make them more smooth?
Better than anything I could do that's for sure. I commend your brother for his modeling, not too simple while at the same time not overblown with details either.
Sorry guys, accidentally did a re-post (Didn't notice until I already uploaded it). To make it up to you guys I might as well post some rumors.
There are going to be new Necron Forgeworld stuff, including a flyer, a revamped Pylon, and some other stuff. New GW Avatar sculpt. Next Forgeworld heresy book will cover the drop site massacre. Imperial Armour 12 is called 'The Fall of Orpheus" and features Necrons, Death Corps of Krieg and Minatour Space Marines. There will also be a future Dark Eldar Imperial Armor book. And there is the possibility of the Warlord Titan class being made, also Daemon Prince primarchs later on.
The thing that holds the ball? Like the way the research center holds the brain thing.
I'm pretty sure those aren't Grey Knights, considering the lack of grey and the presence of green I'm guessing Dark Angels.
Lorgar survived what was basically a fist fight with one of Khorne's strongest Bloodthirsters, not to mention beating the crap out of it in the process. I'm just going out on a limb here and say that he might not be as weak as you think.
Impressive, this unit turned out a lot better than I expected; actually makes me want to play as the Illuminate now. Quick question, are you guys planning to make some Seraphim styled units for the Illuminate? Just wondering because it would justify the name change for the Aeon faction in SupCom2 some more; plus I kind of liked the design of the Seraphim too.
*There it is, a massive battle between the UEF and the Cybran*
Bridge officer: Sir, we are having the upper hand in this battle! Wait...
Commander: What is it?
Bridge officer: Sir there is a squad of dragons approaching... The (red)lead machine is approaching at... three times the speed of the others!
*Cue curb stomp battle due to the superior amount of dakka on the Cybran side*
...Gotta love it when Gundam and Warhammer 40k logic mix together.
All the features you stated seem reasonable. The current naval strategy is pretty much, "whoever has the highest tech and most boats wins" type of thing. So bringing in more variability will increase the strategy needed to play. I especially like the idea of deployable naval units, would be neat making a blockade with them. With that said, is it possible to have naval troop carriers? I know there's plenty of air craft that can transport troops, but there are matches where air units are excluded so having the ability to transport troops over water would be nice.
I really like the look of it, though depending on the size I feel like it fits to be a minor XP unit. With that said I feel like the two guns on the back should be larger, the current size doesn't look like they warrant the unit to be stationary; also are the guns long range, or are they high damage short ranged weapons?
About the head issue, since it looks a bit odd on the top how about putting it in the chest? The King Kriptor unit in vanilla would have looked very odd if the head was on top, so maybe giving it a sort of hunchbacked look would solve the problem.
So how exactly are the support commanders being built? Is it going to be from a quantum gate like we have it now, or are they going to be constructed some other way? Loving the new model by the way, always liked the idea of drones. Would be awesome if someone got them to work like the Kshatriya from Gundam but that's asking for a bit too much; keep up the good work!
Thanks for listening to my input! I really appreciate it, hope the community likes my idea for the head, other than that keep up the good work Leosake I really love the design so far.
