It's extremely good in VR. The standard sprites and their always-facing-you rotation are glaring in VR. This is huge.

I couldn't play it with my CPU (i7 2600k) running at 3.7Ghz. It would drop to 4 fps during scenes of lots of gibs. At 4.7Ghz it stayed playable, above 50 fps during heavy scenes, but with stutter.
So a beefy CPU is required.
Hello, super fan of Far Cry 2 here. Your mod confirms my suspicion and reason why I always stick to hardcore difficulty. There's no critical health state on infamous. Would you mind sharing where you reinstate it?
I'm no stranger to modding, but the wildest thing I've done is rebind some of the hardcoded bindings.
Also I'd like to plug my analog movement script I made for Far Cry 2, for better stealth and immersion without the use of a controller:

I did the same thing and replaced the textures with the ones from Misery, works great without losing the fogging up animation.
The noise/grain got distracting as soon as it got just a little dark, making me turn on the flashlight even if it was just an overcast afternoon.
Can't play without this. Is it possible to adjust the amount of grain though? In the dark it becomes extremely hard to see because all the dust and grime is still lit up as if the sun is shining right on the masks.
Best Half Life 2 mod I ever played. So stoked to play it again. Basically Brutal Doom for HL2.
There needs to be a FC2 modding wiki with findings like these. I've been trying to mod this game on/off for years, and only recently have I been able to do what I wanted to do: Tighten the spread of the Ithaca shotgun.
It takes a lot of digging through threads on OWG to find the conclusive solutions.
I haven't come back to check on progress or anything because I was too engrossed playing it. ******* hell.
I've only encountered a few bugs that was quickly worked around with a save and load. And one instance where a group of military spawned in around me in a transition area.
Overall it's been a great revisit. I'm sneaking around more than ever now that the AI isn't hyper-aware. Occasionally they can be oblivious, but I'll take that over dying somewhat unfairly.
I don't want to disable it though, it's immersive. Just needs fixing.
Loving it. It's been a long time since I've replayed SHOC. The weapons seem very accurate though. I'm having no trouble getting headshots, making it all feel very easy at the moment.
The gasmask overlay however covers up your crosshairs and iron-sights. Only with scopes is it possible to see what you're shooting at when wearing a mask. Maybe have the overlay move when using iron-sights as to show taking aim with the right eye?
I'm liking this mod except for the AI being too dumb/oblivious now. I'm pretty good at sneaking around the vanilla AI, after much trial and error, so that might be part of it.
But now I've had them run straight past me in tall grass, or look oblivious at me while I'm sniping them from a tower barely a 50 meters from them. And I haven't bought the camo suit yet.
The damage feels much more satisfying, a shotgun blast is lethal not only at smell-their-sweat range for once.
Deemed impossible by most. It's hardcoded into the game.
Yeah I think that's what turned me off the most from this game, the cockpits aren't feeling very authentic yet. Need tons of buttons, lights, flip switches etc.
I just found out today someone released mod tools for Far Cry 2, always wanted to make a mod such as this.
Not having much luck with changing values in the files though, so consider your mod tracked.
Tightening one bolt to fix any damage is not realistic, true. But they can't waste their time making an animation for each and every kind of damage the vehicle has taken. Any other game wouldn't even bother making an animation for repairs. So in that sense, it's pretty great.
There is a stealth system, it's just made for consoles and it's analog controllers. On the console you can move as slow as you want. On PC you're set on a fixed speed when walking and sneaking. This screws up the stealth. I know this cause I'm using a G13 joystick for movement.
Story? Eh, the only stories I remember from playing Far Cry 2 is the assaults I planned that played out perfectly. The main story didn't even matter.
Everything else you said, I agree with.
Good idea. With all those ammo types your ammunition for your favorite gun will be that much harder to find. You might even have to pickup a fallen weapon just because it has ammo, that would add to the survival. As long as most ammo can be bought at traders there'd be no problem.
I support this.
Thanks for resurrecting this mod. I made a slight mod to the laser pointer, since I hated how uselessly dim the laser sight was, so I made a brighter dot.

Yes that has always bugged me that a game like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. didn't put it on the right side. The AK is the staple weapon of it IMO.
All I'm getting when using the patch, or manually changing the appid to 215, is the main menu background with music playing, while it says loading down in the right bottom of the screen. I can still interact with the menu even though I can't see it, but I have yet to succeed starting the game. Goddamn it Valve.
I actually prefer the weapon view model pretty close, it feels more immersive to me. I guess it's because of the space between my eyes and the monitor makes it look weird when the stock is visible.
Really, I came here in the hopes it was modifiable by now. After playing the singleplayer for some hours I have quite a few ideas that would improve the game in my opinion. No big changes either.
Create a folder called "mods" in the root of your Crysis Wars folder, and unpack the crysiscoop with all it's content into the mods folder. It should show up in the mod menu in-game.
/Crysis Wars/mods/crysiscoop
So it is possible to customize your controller. The config lies in the same folder as your save game(s). It's at the bottom of it, you have to change which buttons on your joypad (1,2,3 and so on) should correspond to an Xbox360's. For some reason RE5 didn't recoqnize button 1 on my controller as button 1, so I had to experiment till I had found out what the numbers for the buttons were. Tedious. But it's possible.
Changing the axis proved difficult, when I got the aiming right (up was up, left was left), it'd be wrong when not aiming.
Bleh, in the end I just decided to go with mouse and keyboard.
I just wonder if there's a way to disable the controller in-game. It changes control scheme according to the last device you touched. Which is bothering me because I'm trying to make the joystick act through keyboard inputs so I can actually customize the controls, and not those goddamn presets.
