Having worked as a farmer and woodcutter for most of my life i became determined to do something that would leave my mark after i was gone. Since then i got back to studies, and i have now a master degree in Electrotecnical Engineering as well as a degree on Electromechanical Engineering. On my free time i like playing and so i became interested in creating my own games or, in the shorter term, modding games to get something closer to what i would like games to be.

we are talking interactive environment here, and not relying exclusively on combat behavior, i like this idea a lot. this applied to the whole scenery can make for some VERY original and disturbing setting.

we shall make exprimental art with dow.

Did you get the pedestal that was done a while ago?

What about stoning the texture and using a Model on top of that?
Nb. for stoning textures I used a greyscale on the original texture and a layer of stone texture over the top, working with transparency till I got the effect I wanted on the texture.(Just in case there is interest.)

Using the pedestal as a fx on the base of the model or even root.

I am not sure if there is any downside to using the pedestal as a root Fx.
I dont even remember if you would have tried this already.
Giving it flight so the pedestal is on the ground. :)

But as a NPC race that can interact it would give a lot more liveliness to the whole concept.

It might just be the move that would need to take off of the NPC ...

So it could still idle and aim, or track without firing. :)
Setting the majority of the idle to static in the whe. That way it wouldn't be doing the funky chicken all the time.

Lua Rescale might work also. :)

I do have the older pedestal version.

The part of the root FX is something you will have to speak about further as I don't recall doing such a thing yet. If you have done a tutorial on the subject I should be able to find it when I have the time.

Remember flight only works in SS. In DC it is possible to use the lua file to raise the model from the ground (while the game is not paused which can be funny) but anything, except FX not linked to a marker attached to something like a bone, will be moved by the same distance as you lift it from the ground.

got a question : is it possible to trigger an animation if enemy is nearby ? i know it is perfectly doable with scar but with OE like "if enemy in sight then trigger animation X" ?

What I shown in the video uses the aim animations as a form of turning to face enemy units. Maybe simple animations could be added as fire animations, that way the distance set in the weapon file would dictate the start of the anim and it would continue to do so in a loop as soon as the enemy remained there.
For example consider a priest that starts to pray (pray animation would work as the firing animation) and slows down enemies in the area with his prayers. He would continue to use the pray animation while there were enemies inside the weapon range.

Obviously for most situations scar is likely the best approach but will depend on the type of application.

Description

Try to focus past the insane concept of statues firing heavy bolters from their base and think for some time about rotating statues that follow you with their eyes wherever you move. Most people have felt that a particular painting or statue is somehow following them with their supposedly fixed eyes, the objective here is to make sure that is more than just an illusion.
Obviously the objective is not to be used as a weird turret but rather a building that causes fear and disconfort on most enemies.
