Nova Aetas

Mod review

A very well put together mod with the idea of expanding upon the native lore/game, and bringing as the name suggests the game into the Renissance era.

Most of the feature work as intended but there are bugs in some scenes, ai pathing, etc for example some castles do not have jails that are accessible leading to a lord being permanently stuck there. It's a shame that the creator did not continue developing the mod such as adding siege engines, etc and polishing the mod. You will crash often in this mod even if you have a strong PC. Unfortunately a lot of the mod's features do not work with WSE2 which would have solved the crashing due to running out of memory but that is understandable. Old mod not working with a newer warband engine project.

I encountered little to no issue in expanding/creating a kingdom/, going on crusade, keeping on the mainland (Calradia). Everything on the mainland was as I said very polished and playable. The only major unplayable feature was colonising the 'new world'. That entire area seemed very rushed and very unpolished in my opinion.

Normally, in the base game you were able to purchase enterprises in the towns and generate a separate income from them. In Nova Aetas, you must first apprentice and work x amount of days to create a mastercraft product and earn the right to own a enterprise. I did not enjoy waiting a day, running into the apprenticeship, speaking to the 'master' and waiting for a few hours as my character 'worked' and then repeating the same process for nearly 10-20 in game days. It does add a bit of realism, but that feature really deterred me from playing the game normally, as I was not able to generate the revenue required for me to start my own kingdom. I had to (even though I do not enjoy doing this) export/import my character for I would have enough currency to move on and experience the other features of the mod.

A World of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones)

Mod review

High quality models, quests, immersive world, but the lack of cheats, diplomacy, and floris mod features makes it very difficult to replay. No start as ruler, no start as lord, and you're forced to side with the Starks or go to Essos to remain neutral. I would always encounter a bug from version to version, and just feel demotivated to play the next version due to having to try to get back to where I was previously. Great mod, just wish it had those extra features to make it truly great.

Age of Arthur

Mod review

This is simply a more buggy Arthurian quest driven version of Viking Conquest. Most people who praise this mod are praising the aspects of VC and not the mod's features. Questlines are buggy, scenes are buggy with floating objects & NPCS being on top of buildings, etc, sieges require cheats to complete due to unreachable enemies, the assets used are a jumbled mess from a number of mods and do not fit the time period.

This is a very disappointing mod that although I do not regret downloading, I will most likely load it up to try to see what the questlines have to offer. Only download if you want to mess around using cheats. Not for serious campaigning.

In the name of Jerusalem

Mod review

Ambitious mod with siegecraft as its primary focus but there are many problems with this mod. Many features are broken such as start as a king. Many assets clip in each other and is not on the same level of polish as other crusader era mods. The siegecraft alone is still definitely something worth checking out. I wanted to hold off on reviewing this mod but it seems the developers believe the mod to be its in "final" version.

457 AD: Last Years of the Western Empire

Mod review

A rare mod set during a not so well covered era, late antiquity. This mod has a focus on historical accuracy and the high quality assets (armours, weapons, scenes, etc) proves it. It has diplomacy and Floris features which is in my opinion always a must for any modern warband mod. This mod also contains quests. I look forward to the future updates and being pleasantly surprised with whatever is added next. Great job.
