It's not the entire source code, only enough to make changes to some parts of the game. It's worth noting that important parts of the AI system that's used for navigation is entirely undocumented right now so if any engines (like yamagi and fteqw) want to support it we'll have to put in a lot of work to reverse engineer it. It would be nice if id or Nightdive makes the information public.

Can't give an exact date, but I can assure you that the chances of 1.0 releasing this year are pretty good considering the lead mapper (Xylemon) came back after a long hiatus

I use IRC myself on a daily basis and have nothing against running a channel. Sadly nowadays the only way to connect to interested players is using the `hot new` webservices...

The Wastes had a short-lived Source version that was never released. However, because we want to make this a platform-agnostic standalone game with full control we don't want to subject ourselves to Valve's tech... not to mention to price tag for Source is quite steep!

We're running on a modified QuakeWorld engine using idTech 3 technology for the maps and textures.

With the BSP format we're using, giant landscapes can finally be realized. This map is a giant battlefield in which 2 teams fight against eachother. The bases themselves have many junkyard-ish buildings in which you can find some cool ****. Including a vehicle or two :)

While we all were busy with school, we had an amazing time playing and working on Half-Life mods all night long. Different timezones didn't matter to us. We were all up til like 4AM to just work on maps or play some The Specialists or Scientist Hunt like we used to in the old days.

I hope that is reflected in this release. That's what it has always been about for us. We modded to show our love and appreciation for the games, so releasing everything is the least we can do.

Still quite a few milestones to go, mostly finishing up on levels and tinkering with some of the big-terrain/vehicle stuff later on (shh!)

Basic deathmatch is entirely playable though. Loads of fun shooting each other to pieces too.
