I know this is a huge ask, but instead of the Legion of The Damned path giving you new Space Marines, I feel as if every unit should get a fiery aura and an armour buff but should cost more and all units now warp in. THere should be more downsides but I can't think of any. Regardless if this is possible or not please answer.

do I have to install the patch for this?

so I followed what you said a bit but I just cant get it to show up in my games manager (I know I installed and downloaded right using other links because mod dbs ones didn't work) and I couldn't get it to change to ultimate apocalypse only able to install ultimate apocalypse and the patch with the tyranid mod and it wont do anything but make a folder with a load of stuff and that about the mod so when I play my (disk version)(steam version has gone haywire)soulstorm it has nothing but dawn of war soulstorm in the ganes manager, How do I fix this?
