I'm afraid some changes were made to improve response time for statistics, but they haven't been reflected in some places (I simply haven't gotten round to updating them yet). The server is unfortunately quite slow, which is also why it stutters.

As for the difficulty, I'm afraid I haven't updated the website to show the difficulties for each game. That's also semi-intentional to avoid priming.

When October rolls around, I will have a chance to fix all these minor issues and potentially release a stand-alone version of the mod that doesn't need to talk to the server. It will also allow you to select your own type of difficulty selection for each game.

The fact that the two difficulties were so similar is completely by chance (and means I might be doing something right ;-) ). For your own reference, the difficulty for both games was about 57% (depending what level you were on). The difficulty of the last level, for instance, is scaled down significantly.

A new version will be released within the next few days. Once that happens, the server will be up again. Unfortunately, older versions of the game will no longer work.

Hi Nixel, I appreciate the offer and am quite flattered. However, I have one more experiment that I need to run, and would really appreciate it if you could wait until October to do this.

After I complete my research, I am intending to release the mod with the difficulty unlocked, and some further additions anyway.

Edit: Did you get my request, by the way? I am running a survey at the moment, and am looking to get in touch with people who played the mod.

A 1/10? Ouch, that hurts.

I'd like to make it clear that the difficulty is randomised at the start of each game. The game you played may have been a hard setting. If it's too hard for you, please try again - you may be blessed with an easier difficulty. There's more information on the game's difficulty settings in a recent news post: Moddb.com.

I can't tell you how hard that game was until you finish/start a new game, but I hope you have better luck next time you play :-)

Edit: I'm going to make the mod's description a little clearer so that others don't have to experience your frustration.

I'm afraid I haven't built in support for Mac or Linux due to time constraints. It uses Winsock and an OpenSSL implementation for Windows. Unfortunately the mod is unplayable without these.
