spam bot, for sure.
oh dont worry,, we will be doing exactly that.
Most definitely, we will learn the ropes and see if we can't give the games some smoother looking models and a new user interface. see what else we tear apart. and rebuild.
were only human, its what humans do. :)
we will be keeping hold of everything we have made so far, and we will badger on at them every chance we get, we will keep all hard copies of story plans, quests, items, characters as we do have a lot of it. And periodically send them letters too, were not giving up we will eventually get this game made.
And basically, what was said was, They know that there is a lot of interest with Knights of the Old Republic and also there aware of peoples interests for a third, but EA had received complaints about this and it was causing some confusion on their website
and he did mention perhaps in time EA may pick up on this, but right now there is the Bioware MMO The Old Republic, and he can't approve of this game to go ahead.
We knew the risks with this when we started this project, and we will look at creating something similar, obviously nothing will ever come close to Knights of the Old Republic, ever..., but hey lets look at the bright side, EA have a few studios sure, but we have an army of Indies and we will force ourselves into the AAA Market. Were still going to be all about the community, we still want Indies to come to us, and collaborate with other indies to make great games.
After all, we believe that if you give to the community, the community will give back.
We aimed for success, there is nothing wrong with that.
At least we had the guts to risk everything, as we wanted to make this game just as much as you guys wanted to play it.
we will get the functionality sorted and, what problems are you having?
and yeah its a bit arkward
Were recreating things from the ground up, but were gonna try and keep things as close as possible to the originals, and we will be looking at getting the game released on multiplatforms, but ultimately, hopefully we can begin negotiations with Lucasfilm tomorrow. And we understand for need for it to be on consoles, as it should be, we want cheevoo's for SWKotORIII :D
we will correct that apostrophe.
The forums are close to becoming live, and because we all work as one at this time, and in time if the other developers wish to, they will go forth on the forums. Right now there happy with me relaying information on to the community.
Well if you haven't already read the article on the first page, with the recent change of direction of the canon and non-canon, we don't have to follow the book anymore, or SWTOR as it happens, only future SW (films, tv, comics and games) will be classed as cannon only if the Lucasfilm story group is involved. So if you want to ignore that Revan book, you can do, if you want to ignore TOR Revan FP, you can do. We know our stuff, we have been planning this for years.
We will be suggesting to them that Obsidian are involved in this since TSL was their first ever title and we know there keen to do it, and since we have already secured the propriety domains and such and already have the main server up and running, We are pretty optimistic about this development, as well were expecting a sure fire no, a few months back when we made the request, we had a feeling that Lucasfilm was watching this, as that was our sole intention, to get their attention so to speak, so everything is working out the way we want things to go.
Also the fact we still haven't received a single C&D or lawsuit strengthens our views on this game.
The way we see it is simple, we make the game, fans play the game, we make money, Disney makes money, everyone is happy. cause we know once we get approval of Lucasfilm, then we won't hold anything back in making sure this game gets done. We already have the contracts ready to be sent to all the original voice over casts agents, as we think they would enjoy coming back for a third installment.
glaspey you deleted it yourself...
its not too confidential as its only them saying they will contact us, we did remove the identifiable info first, just a technicality is all. it is intended for us though. and the bottom only applies to if its sent to someone by mistake.
Thinks will take time, but we do appreciate the feedback and as we said before we just used the DM- prefix to quickly populate since we haven't finished with the main character models yet.
We have removed the pre-order from the website.
We do appreciate support and we will release better footage in time, at this point we have only begun with the engine, were doing things as and when required, saves us time, all were asking for is feedback, peoples ideas, suggestions, and we will look at them and if we like it, we will put it in the game.
Were currently working on the sites right now, and if it will make people happier we will remove the pre-order function. Yes? No? tell us what you want from us! we will do our best to do what we can. And well it will exist, we are creating it. And as for the IP that will be discussed on Tuesday 5th August.
We will be looking to replacate the turn based system from TSL as it had improvements and we can do this by studying the compiled and source scripts as they contain a lot of information on how the odyssey engine works in regards to the game, its just working out the code framework to create a more cleaner, quicker and realistic turn based system, it is one of the tougher aspects of the game, but we are overly confident that with enough time we can produce a great turn based combat system inside of Unreal Engine 3.
Thanks, but thats not our model, its one of the models provided with UE3 and UDK.
glaspey, we just used the DM- prefix just to give us the default stuff so we could just show the ingame mouse working and the third person camera, which was our intention with this bit of footage, and we will show off the characters once we've finished getting them ready, as any dev will know we have to test every little thing, after its made, then edit things, its a complex process, and for a game such as this we have to get things just right :)
were creating all the low quality stuff first, then once everything is working to how we want it, only then we will work on the higher poly stuff. saves on time and were doing things as and when we need them.
and there will be more on the way soon folks.
for the really low quality meshes were going to rebuild them from scratch, really all the original assets are more like references, and were going to release the source free with the game so people can learn from us, and were also considering a community content store, so if you want to create your own maps and such, we will put the best ones people can design on the store for other people to download and add to their game, what kinds of things you can import will need to be decided but we will give levels of creativity, like we said a while back, we want the community to be involved in this game, and we will be creating the tools for you to use to do just that.
most likely after we get the alpha development screenshots up.
Should be working we have tested it in multiple outside connections.
They haven't said anything yet as such we want to make that clear guys, but we will be speaking to them in about two weeks time.
and we are also using our own animations.
Were using original assets from the first two games and recreating the meshes and smoothing them out. so they look better.
