The Coruscant-Kashyyyk path can be seen as a part of the Perlemian Trade Route. Kashyyyk is quite at the south of it, actually, but we haven't got any systems belonging to the Hydian Way neither : Coruscant and Horuset are far away from this one too. Given that there were no official route to join these systems, we decided to link Yavin to Kashyyyk for gameplay purpose : this way, Coruscant is more protected from northern invasions.

I agree on moving Kashyyyk down, though.

At least most of them will be co-op only. If you want a mission to be challenging, there is always a strong side (hostile faction) and a weak side (player's faction). If you add a player on the hostile side, it's just too easy for them to win.

But we may also add symetrical missions that can be played by two groups of hostile players at the same time. For instance, in the game X-wing vs TIE Fighter, there was a mission featuring a Rebel Dreadnaught against an Imperial Strike Cruiser. I can create this in Fw:Tow if you want.

Problem with wrecks that live forever is that they're very heavy server side. Anyway, we could definitly try to add capital ships wrecks that remain until every player has left the area, as we won't encounter so many capital ships. Good idea!

I'm playing this battle with my laptop. It's an Asus G51J (i7 quadcore, GTX 260M, 4 Gb RAM). However, you should be able to run the game quite well with an older computer as i was running the Server and Fraps on the same machine, and still got 40-60 FPS.

I actually plan to create this mission with the MF and the TIEs. So far, due to the limitations of the Freelancer engine, most of these asteroids are not dangerous as you can't give them mass (they'll just bounce on you, or make you change direction). However, we're working on a way to fix that.

I don't think he was talking about NPC wingmen, but about many players instead. Anyway, skullshaper, you'll need more than a few bombers to destroy a Star Destroyer. It's going to be very hard without capital ship support, or at least a Carrier to rearm.

Actually, there would be another major problem : the SSD is so big it's impossible to fly it decently. You can certainly engage capital ships and crush them, but you are defenseless against a small group of starfighters and assault shuttles because they're so tiny that you can't see them... Those ships aren't supposed to be one-manned, afterall ;)

We do not plan to have a single player mode with a singleplayer campaign, because it's a lot of work and we better use this time to improve the multiplayer mode. However, you'll be given the tools to play offline on your own local server, alone or with friends.

Those shield hit effects are definitly a good idea. We'll work on those as soon as possible!

As for the hardpoints, they are already there. Actually, one of our developers, Orac, is working on adding shield generators on every ship, that's why some shields were missing in the video. You'll also be able to destroy turrets, torpedo launchers and other weapons, but even power generators, tractor beams and gravity wells.

However, destroying those require precision aiming, so it's definitly a job for bombers, patrol ships and assault shuttles, while capital ships shell their targets from several kilometers away.

Those weren't torpedoes, actually. These explosions are the Mc30 special feature : cluster bombs. They're close-range weapons, used to keep bombers away, and not really an anti-fighter weapon. Although it looks cool to use them nonetheless. The bombs trails are just here for testing purpose and will be removed in the final version. As for torpedoes, you'll see them later as they're not on the ships yet.

Of course. But first you need to shoot down the shields in order to be able to target the subsystems such as turrets, shield generators (so they don't come back) or gravity field generators. You can also attack the powercells, as this weapon is going to be very energy consuming.

The Interdictor cruiser and its republican equivalent, the CC-7700 frigate, will prevent every ship from entering hyperspace in a 20K radius.

This may happen if the base is neutral, particularly if you're using missiles. However, if the base, or whatever NPC, is friendly, he'll understand that you're not a threat and he'll not open fire on you.

Slyder is right : there are still unshielded TIE Fighters, don't worry. The fact is that it's quite hard to balance them, because the shield account for 66% of the total resistance of an average fighter... and the hull doesn't reload. So, in order to balance them, we've made them faster, more powerful and more responsive than the default light fighters (such as the Z-95). But this isn't wasn't enough, so we've been forced to increase their hull so that they're balance perfectly.

This result in TIE Fighters having slightly more hull hitpoints than X-wing : this isn't as realistic as it should be, but it's the only way to balance unshielded TIE Fighters. You'll not notice it too much anyway, as they're really weak ships that (paradoxically) are much harder to pilot than TIE Defenders or TIE Avengers... because any error result in immediate destruction. Same goes for TIE Interceptors and TIE Bombers.

Eventually, as you've noted, it is still possible to buy shielded TIE Fighters / Interceptors / Bombers. They'll be very uncommon, as no NPC is going to use them. If you've played X-Wing vs TIE Fighter, you've already had the chance the pilot such ships in the Avenger squadron. In Fw:ToW, these shielded versions are heavier and have less hull than the default version. Furthermore, shield drains energy, resulting in less firepower.
