So I made an AI system for stealth using hammer's logic entities...

If their sprite is green, they do not know where you are and have not heard anything suspicious.
If they are in the orange state, they haven't spotted you, but they have heard gunshots.
If they turn red, it means they have directly spotted you.

After 10 seconds of not hearing anything or seeing you, they will revert from the orange or red states back to the green state and forget about you.

I've been waiting for someone to develop some type of stealth system for HL2. Much like an NPC attitude indicator used in some other games. It's clever, yet simple enogh to be quite useful ( in direct line of sight of course ). Well done sir.

LoL, I used 6 entities and 27 outputs per combine soldier. Wish I had known about ai_script_conditions when I made this.... Oh well, it helped me learn how to use logic.

i think it is ridiculous in stealth games when a guy who hears gunshots or was just shooting at you fifteen seconds ago will forget about you at all. they should always pursue and at least try to pin you in an area where they think you ran to.

you should work on improving the enemy's escalation of force - as in, slowly ramping up the amount of enemies or increasing their lethality. a few metro-cops, if attacked, should call in soldiers...soldiers should call in shotgun soldiers...shotgun soldiers should call in a gunship or elites. i typically script this out.

also, when one enemy in a squad is attacked, I set the aiscripted_sequence to "run to and attack" the player - even from afar (when the player is sniping). That way, the player is forced to be cautious when engaging.

Good points, I completely agree. I probably won't ever work on this though.
