3. Light, besides healing abilities and exorcism, light has a broader approach to situations. a light side man could have amazing tracking abilities for example, so I could just use an alternate route, avoiding question 2 entirely.

the best way is to manually delete the Hyrule folder and then install the new version, at least its the method I use.

It's actually quite fun and while most players who started later in the series do say that, it is often said ( mostly by total war veterans like myself) that the later games were bad, especially Napoleon and Empire.
