A sin this is not yet leading the list of Doom II mods when sorted by highest rating first.
The aliens here are outstandingly smart and hard critters, definitely so for Doom II standards.
Things will get frantic.
Listen for the motion tracker and watch your six in time in case it beeps but does not show anything in front. ;-)
Remember, short controlled bursts!
And make intelligent use of all your equipment in time lest you want to find yourself ending up dead due to the alien threat.
Level design is so non-linear and open. And these are atmospheric and nice to look at, too.
And then there is the mixing it up when you play another class'es view.
And once you'd ever get tired of the mapset you can play any level wad AE style and these conversions can stay atmospheric still.

One of the tactical shooter gog triumvirate (along with Operation Flashpoint: Resistance and SWAT 3).
Hard!
One life per round, looting/scavenging the fallen gives nice risk/reward aspects to this.
Progressing to better gear is rewarding and there is a good variety.
The iron-sights, stamina and bleeding mechanisms work well.
Bots do pretty good and provide a challenge.
The sabotage/espionage blitz gametypes are sort of assault with checkpoints.
Good bot support, playable on pretty much any map and spiced up by random drop point spawns.
Better than anything found on the remaining, running UT2004 servers.
Good bot support, better than CTF or BR (IMHO) and not just a rehash of the UT PlannerBot Thesis gametype (in case somebody else remembers that one).
You can pretty much make any map playable with this with a few minutes in the included ContentEditor "gametype" (or relevant lines for the corresponding .ini file).
Better than all of the **** that the remaining populated UT2004 servers run nowadays.
You think you're all that. Stay away, girlfriend!
