Scrolled through the Mods page a while ago and stumbled upon this gem. Doing the same thing now and it reminded me of my hype that I had before. I hope things have gotten better for you, and I'm still looking forward to this!

If you need any further ideas, play Amadeus and try the piano puzzle. You could potentially work something like that into this CS, based on the protagonist being a pianist.

I thought to myself, let me check ModDB for any news on Helena or Order of the Skull, and then the first thing I see is this! My jaw hit the floor as I read the summary and I can't contain my excitement. Tracking, and here's to another great CS for 2019! Your other two chapters were simply incredible; great job!

Concept_Cobra - - 16 comments @ Number 7

I just finished playing Number 7 and I'm so impressed by what you have done here, Custom.

I loved the level designs and I really enjoyed the parts where it's completely black; it felt that something was going to come out at any minute. When that did happen, every time, I made too much noise that alerted my presence and I had to hide behind barrels by holding them so that I wouldn't die. It just kept me on edge and I appreciate CS's that do that, and do it well.

In terms of the puzzles, they were excellent in my opinion. I especially took a lot of interest in the boiler room puzzle since I have never seen something like that before in Amnesia. Another puzzle that I thought was great was that whole sequence with the Alters in the Library; yeah, it was a fetch quest, but it was done right and actually required a bit of thinking in order to complete it. I feel what would've made this puzzle better would be to have hidden the keys in less obvious spots or maybe have two sets, with one of them being fake.

My only issue that I have with this CS is that in the very first level where you can find the first orb piece, there are two combinations of '19' that you can make that fulfill the requirements of "three up and three down". It did throw me for a loop when I didn't get it right, but I think that both of them should have been able to work instead of just the one combination. The other thing too was that the death system was interesting, but it was easily exploitable. Maybe in the future you could incorporate something where if someone tries to cheat the system something could be taken away. I understand that doing that would take a lot more time to do, but it would make cheating the system less likely.

Overall though, great job and I look forward to you making more Custom Stories! 9/10

As I said in my review, this is what custom stories should be!

This CS was one of the better ones and I honestly forgot that this was only Ch. 1! Like other comments have mentioned, I was on the edge of my seat for most of this one, and the scares were not only well-timed, but well-spaced; just when I could finally relax, boom.

There were a few bugs, most notably the (spoilers) window in the storage room. I was able to get through it, but the transition into it was sloppy and very jumpy in my opinion.

What really got me going about this CS was the level design and the music, the music was excellent! If the only music that played was in that stairwell, then bravo still; would you be able to tell me what soundtrack that was?

Overall though, well done! I'm looking to the next chapters if you plan on making them and just wanted to let you know that there still is a community here for Amnesia in 2019! 9/10

Darkfire, you have a phenomenal mod right here; I gave 10/10.

The story itself was out of this world; I found myself getting so enriched in it that I didn't want to stop playing. Also, just the whole plot to it and how it ended were great. I honestly didn't see that outcome happening. In regards to the monster, the suitor was the perfect choice here; I've always wanted mods that focused around it because it's the scariest one of the three original monsters, and you executed it perfectly.

I loved the little easter eggs that were thrown in as well, especially The Evil Within; I'm a die-hard fan of it. In addition, the voice acting was good and the whole crafting system worked incredibly well. You should honestly bring something like that back in the next CS following this one.

I don't really have any negatives to say. The only critique that I could give would be to make some puzzles a bit more challenging; something that would make players think outside the box. You had a good start in making certain puzzles be completed between levels, but now you should be able to make them harder.

Overall, bravo bud. I'm looking forward to the other mods you have in store.

Concept_Cobra - - 16 comments @ The Clockman

As I put in my vote, short but sweet; 9/10.

For being made in only two weeks, level design was done quite well. I loved the simplicity to some of the levels, but the detail in them made them stand out.

I'm not sure if this counts as bugs per say, but the monsters were able to spot me through the doors; I was hiding in the one closet in the cellar and the stalker from Red Line Games (or whatever the official name is) came right up and killed me. If this was supposed to be the case due to the monsters representing time and them being able to see/kill you no matter what, then well done.

Overall, The Clockman was really good. I look forward to future mods from you! Just an idea, but since this CS was short, maybe you'll consider making a long one next?

Concept_Cobra - - 16 comments @ Emma's Story Part 2 - Emma's Nightmare

This mod was absolutely incredible; it's what sequels to anything can only dream of!

I loved the twists that Emma's Nightmare gave me and I was so happy that I stumbled upon this right after playing Part 1. Not only was the homage to the first part executed perfectly, the story was brilliant. SPOILERS, I guess, but I did not expect at all that the story was 40 years later; i had no idea and when that was shown to me, I felt overjoyed.

There isn't really anything that I can say that's negative, everything seemed to fit. Again, well done! 10/10

Concept_Cobra - - 16 comments @ Nights of Anorland - Act I

This mod was excellent; I gave a 9/10.

*SPOILERS* (I guess?)
For starters, I loved the fact that oil, laudanum, and sanity potions were all hidden in vases and urns; after playing a couple mods in a day, I thought to myself of how great it'd be to see keys/useful items hidden in things that are most of the time overlooked, and NoA made fantastic use of it. In my first time playing (I stopped and restarted a lot because I thought I forgot some items), I went into the first room after exiting your room where you woke up, and I smashed the vase for ***** and giggles. When I saw the oil pop out I remember having the biggest smile on my face and I was laughing to myself. I know it's a small detail, but little things like that make the game more real to me.

Secondly, the use of the suits of armor was frightening and was executed well; I was scared shitless because I had no idea what was going on. However, there were some parts during that sequence where they attacked almost back to back and it kind of got a bit stale. If their attacks were a little more spaced out, then the scare factor would almost certainly be higher. But, good job nonetheless.
*SPOILERS*

My only quarrel with NoA would be that the lack of voice acting slightly takes away from the story. I understand that voice acting takes a lot of time and finding people could be difficult, but just that extra bit of reality to it makes the story come alive. Don't get me wrong, this mod was great w/o voices, but I feel that if there were you'd have an even better adventure.

Overall, phenomenal job! I'm looking forward to the remaining Acts!

Fantastic!

This Mod/CS was quite the adventure, and I enjoyed going through the story. It honestly took me a little before realizing that this was an account of something that already happened, but when I figured it out, I felt happy.

*SPOILERS*
The dark, Lovecraftian aspects were great, and the lack of monsters actually made it more unsettling; the anticipation for a monster encounter was astronomical, especially before Emilia's ritual in the maze, and after acquiring the Holy Water. Before the ending, I wasn't aware that there weren't any, but when I finished I felt like that was the correct route to take.

However, in my opinion, maybe to try to appeal to everyone (those who play for story AND for monsters), an encounter/chase sequence with the Brute, aka Anton's servant, after gathering the tomes could have been implemented.
*SPOILERS*

But, that's a discussion for another Mod, which means MAKE MORE!

Overall, SOTR was excellent; the level design was absolutely gorgeous, the story itself put me on the edge of my seat, and it was a new Amnesia experience. Like I put in my submission, 10/10! Nice job!

Just finished playing the demo and I have to say that I'm very pleased and impressed. Well done!

The level designs were really good. I've played most of your other mods that you've released (I believe I still need to finish Orion), and I adore the levels that you create; the compactness of them is excellent, the flow from one area to another is natural, and just the overall feel to them makes sense.

The Brute monster in this CS also makes sense (from your other mods, I'm guessing that it's the monster you prefer using). I'm always on edge when I hear the cry, and in both instances of encountering him (I'm including the first time when looking for the drawer key) are well-timed. I enjoy playing CS's where the monsters are there because they belong there, and aren't just thrown in; the bacterial plague fits and works nicely in this instance.

In terms of any nit-picks, the ones that I had were already mentioned in other comments. However, this may just be me, but including a few more oil potions scattered throughout would be very helpful, especially to those who enjoy having the lantern on 25/7 (I'm not included here, lol).

Overall though, you've made a successful demo and I'm looking forward to the final release of Conquest of Life! Again, well done!

wilkOmilk, great job on this Custom Story!

The story was excellent despite not truly understanding who I was playing as (I looked at the "Plot" article after playing), and the explanations/backstory for the monsters were a nice touch. It felt as if they belonged there if that makes sense.

The music was phenomenal, especially on the walk leading to the temple; I got chills.

Going against the criticisms, I actually enjoyed the back-tracking since it gives areas additional purposes instead of just being "placed" there in order to get a specific item.

Finally, for your most recent article explaining the exploration maps, I think that that's a good idea. I've been reading some of the comments on a lot of other custom stories, and most of the negatives were regarding length and puzzles/items being too easy to solve or find, respectively. A more "open-world" Amnesia mod (the hubs) would definitely add length and difficulty, but don't make it too big since issues could then arise. For me personally, and this is just an idea, I'd like to see more uses of the Justine monster, and since your next CS as you said uses inspiration from The Evil Within and Silent Hill, I think the Justine monster would be a great touch, in addition with your own custom monster. Another thing, if your hubs require a somewhat specific order to them, I would implement something like having a note or a notice explaining that something else has to be done first in order to progress through that area.

Overall, keep it up and I'm looking forward to playing through your next CS whenever it comes out!
