Saw it on the gamespot five indie games video Au.gamespot.com and decided to check it out. After buying the alpha and running through it I have a little feedback.
1. Mouse speed. Even when the setting was cranked to 'highest' I was still picking up the mouse and moving it repeatedly. My Windows 7 mouse speed is default, if that even affects it.
2. Puzzles were all good so far! Only one did I feel totally stuck on, but after running away I saw the answer everywhere. Silly me.
3. Just enough feedback. I always felt like I had solved the puzzle and knew that one puzzle had 4 parts to be solved.
4. Arbitrary falling areas. While they were mostly obvious, your random use of floors that were invisible were a little odd. In a few areas you can walk across what appears to be a pit, but other areas you can fall. While it appears to be on a game design choice, it left me a tad hesitant to proceed once or twice. Not a big issue, but just seemed out of place.
Otherwise great work so far, I enjoyed what you have so far. Thanks.
Also, there is a contest going on for some free copies of the pack: Unknownworlds.com
I second this question. I am really missing it.
Would love to see the beta and help out with it.
The whole Natural Selection team and community are glad you guys recognized the teams efforts to make the best possible mod they can, thank you!
After host rocket relaized their bug in reporting our bandwidth usage, we have the site back online finally!
Well, the NS site host for some reason has said we have exceeded bandwidth of 30 gigs, when only 4 gigs has been used. The site should return withing 24 hours, and we are busily looking for a newer. and more stable host.
Sorry for the inconvenience!
Just add a timer to it, i there is no updates for 3-5 months or so, then it gets stuck in the "inactive" folder, and does not come up on searches, the user must know the direct link to it. Maybe after a year with no updates, it just gets downright deleted.
Many gams are coming out these days that have a lot more atmosphere in them and immersion too. CS is jsut serious sam without the midless part of the killing, making it bland and old I think. The levels are usually nearly all bland, simple, basic lighting, etc.
I saw keep them sparse and only hand them out when they are truly deserved. The awarded mods should really have something GOOD about them. If somone looked at a page of all of the awarded mods, there should be something ell done about each one. New gameplay, new concept, immense immersion, etc. I don't think they should be handed out like free samples at the store ;)
I just wish more people were out there playing this mod! The quality of the work in it is just amazing, and the gameplay is always different and exciting. So, take some time of TFC, CS, or DoD and give this a shot. It even comes with a great in-game, on the fly tutorial so you can learn as you are playing.
If you ever want to die, just hop on the SCK or blueyonder servers! :)
I'd love to see that day if it ever came around Monse... :D
I saw this mod appear on here a few days ago and it seems to be well taken by the users!
I do have some more info on this mod, if you want to take a look at Readyroom.org there is a ton of news, shots and videos there for you to take a gander at. That site is run by the crazy MonsE (the man who posted this mod on the DB here).
And just a shout out to the guys making it, I know this has been said before, but damn nice work guys!
Even your mapping release is fun enough to drive around in! Glad you guys went to the mod expo, and I heard you had a wonderful time there. I know the mod is a long time in the making, and I have no complaints, I just think of it like wine. The older, the better!
Glad to see a place like this open up its doors! The other mod site I knew of for Half-Life was...errr, bad :) Keep up the good work!
