Welcome on my profile. I am RTS fan, especially Generals ZH. I am looking for other players, so if you like Contra, TEOD, or any other mod and want to try with me, just PM me.
Because wind turbines are so much more efficient. -_-
Actually, they have so many wind turbines on north shore that there is a problem when it starts to be windy. It overloads the net, and since Germany has not a good connection between turbines on north and industry on south, the energy flows trough Poland and Czech republic. Blackout is a matter of time. Also, when it's really windy, Czech republic has to lower power output on nuclear plants, which is huge waste of money.
Problem with wind energy (from what I can gather) is that it is inconsistent energy. Either have massive storage some days or coal power plants to ease the load the next. I think when used to compliment more conventional systems they can be useful, but when used as a primary system, that's when the problems arise. Also, the turbines can not rest on their bearings, and hence have to actually be backfed by the power grid during calm days.
You probably know all about this topic though. xD
Not much of a believer in "Green energy" myself.
I think that a perfect solution for this is to have pumped-storage water plants. But they take a lot of space.
