Imperium doesn't need the titan.

Planetkiller will have a role of titan, not because this ship is so PoWeRfUlL. Yes, Planetkiller have Armageddon Cannon and other big guns, but it's just a battleship. Very impressive ship, but just a battleship. Why titan? Because in one time only ONE Planetkiller may be exist.
Planetkiller will be little better armed and armored than common battleships, but you shouldn't send it in to the battle alone. =)
"Holy", "mysticism" is just a words. Mechanicus just want to save their monopoly for technology development, and that's all. Maybe we see what they want to we should see? No one knows what exactly is going on in mechanicus cult. They keep their secrets good.
Any Tau technology have Imperium analog. Wait... Some thing wrong... Oh, yes! That's Tau technologies is an analog of Imperium tech. Don't forget whose tech was an example for Tau. =)
You are right, many technologies in Imperium was lost, but that is a small part of boundless knowlege.
And you are wrong to say that in Imperium isn't develop new technology. Well... recover lost tech, if you wish. =)
Not exactly.
Just compare tens of millenniums of technology development with only a couple thousands years. The Imperium have the technologies that the Tau could only dream about.
About limited success of Tau intervention.
When Tau started there invade, in Imperium began a new crisis with the invasion of the forces of Chaos, plus a Hive-fleet and other things, so... These threats had much higher priority for the Imperium than a little tribe of techno-barbarian.
But don't worry. Tau will not be outcasts in our mod. Some sort of balance will be present. =)

Here only space transports are shown. Devourer - is a big shuttle like Tetrarch Heavy Lander.

About "Gothic Sector". We plan to add Tau and some xeno races from the nearby regions as neutrals. But Tau region locate in Ultima Segmentum, so...

I understand that Stellaris very popular today. But how do you imagine Warhammer in Stellaris playing as the Imperium? A whole galaxy at your feet and ready to obey? Such gameplay will look ridiculous. I don't think Stellaris is good as a platform for mods on Warhammer. This is an empires building simulator, it is more useful to simulate sci-fi universes, such as Star Trek, Star Gate, Halo.
But not Warhammer. I will say so... The Imperium does not need to build, it is already built.
I don't think BFGA can provide us with much content or any resourses.
Well... These ships were built in M30, no one in M41, so...
About titans.
Some factions will get a titans (Planet Killer, Space Hulk, maybe Craftworld), some factions not.
Imperium and Chaos will be represented in first release.
Later as playable factions we will add Orks, Eldars, maybe Tau.

About the Chaos witchcraft.
We discussed this subject. Some of the flagships of chaos get a few sorcerer abilities. But we still haven't decided what type will be the effect of these abilities, direct or area effect.
These abilities will be able to apply different effects: damage, debuffs, change of ship owner(only for escort ships).
Boarding can be implemented as a damage over time plus(or) a debuff for a short time.
Of course. We will announce the recruiting of alpha-testers.
We plan to add Space Marines as a part of Imperial Navy faction. But, unfortunately, not in the first release. The goal of the first release is to test the core balance.
