Care to elaborate? What fails?
Since I don't have the source code of the KW shaders, I'm afraid it will be difficult to make it fully compatible.
If I have a lot of spare time, I might take a look at it at some later point, but making it work will probably take a large amount of trial and error.
I rewrote many of the shaders from the game.
The source code for the original shaders was extracted by jonwil, and can be found here Cncmods.net
The shaders are written in HLSL, which is very similar to c++.
I'm afraid the RNA part of RA3 is a part of the engine itself, and we don't have the source codes for any of the game engines. So no, not unless you can persuade EA to release the game engine source codes.
This has been fixed in ChronoShaders. All Nod units now have correct house color.
Thanks. I would do the same for RA3 if any of the shader source code was available. Alas, it is not.
I found a bug that can cause problems when used together with other mods.
It has now been fixed, and a new download is awaiting authorization.
If you read the mod description, you'd know that this is not a retexture mod.
And yes, there is a difference.
Well, NewMessageN00b has not really been an active member of the team for a couple of years now..
It's unfortunately too difficult to predict. Our progress does not happen at a steady rate, and it's hard to estimate how much time it will take to do what needs to be done.
We will try to indicate it when we are getting close to a beta release, though.
Things take time, and we are a very small team with very many things to do.
Well, the only RA1 soviet unit GDI has in TD is the mammoth tank.
As the allies win the world war of RA1, the mammoth tank technology is captured in the process. We might make a mission involving this.
As for Nod having units of the allies of RA1, it's a bit more intricate. The details are not yet complete, but short explanation is that after the war, surplus weaponry is sold off by the allies, mostly to 3rd world countries.
By this time the (underground) black hand has made strong ties with the leaders of many of these countries, and can thus get their hands on large amounts of weapons through the black arms market.
The precursors to GDI and Nod will be playable (sub)factions in Renovatio.
The Black Hand subfaction of the Scavengers is led by Kane, and is what eventually will become the brotherhood of Nod.
As for GDI, it starts out as a covert operations group formed by the Allies called Black Ops 9, and will be a subfaction of the Allied side in Renovatio.
As for tiberium, it will probably not be harvestable in Renovatio, but we hope to have a mission involving the meteor impact that brings tiberium to Earth.
Well, we can't really update more often than we have new content..
And making content at a higher rate at the expense of quality is out of the question.
The quality of the mod is one of the motivations to keep working on it instead of letting it die, like so many other mods.
It doesn't matter if some people lose interest - if we were to sacrifice the quality, I would be the one losing interest.
Full release this year? No chance.
We might be able to release a multiplayer alpha with only the allied side, but it's no promise.
We don't want to sacrifice the quality that we're working so hard to maintain.
We clearly have very different definitions of "mighty long time".
It's been 1.5 months since we posted one of our largest updates to date.
So no, the mod is not dead.
The AA tank is indeed the M42 Duster, but the light tank is the M41 Walker Bulldog.
It is possible by modifying an ini file, but we probably won't use it in Renovatio, as there are some graphical artifacts with such camera angles.
We plan to keep unit promotions.
Hopefully we can find ways to make them a bit more interesting than just a slight increase in armor and firepower.
I'd be interested to know what about them you don't like... saying that they're ugly is not very helpful.
Not for the allied side. We will keep the RA1 system with light tank and medium tank for the allied side (M1 incorrectly being called medium), and heavy tank for the remnants of the Soviets.
Thanks. The first release will be when the allied side is done. It's still a fair bit of work, though.
Of structures, the tech center, superweapon, airfield and possibly service depot are needed. Most structures also still need buildup and destruction animations.
Of units, at least 2 vehicles, some infantry and 2-4 aircraft are needed before we can make a release.
There are also other smaller things like sidebar icons, upgrades and particle effects that need to be made.
In short: Still quite a bit of work, but we will have a release eventually.
Thanks.
Yes, that is indeed the light tank on the left ;)
Nope, it's its little brother: The M41 Walker bulldog.
The AA version is the M42 Duster.
We do have enough new content for an update, but when it will come is hard to tell. It should in the very least be before christmas.
Though I'm afraid you're likely to be even more thirsty afterwards ;)
Progress is quite slow at the moment, but not halted.
Studies, work and other RL stuff is taking most of our time.
RA3? Why would you want to play that?
It's a disgrace to the C&C name in my opinion.
It will be RA style with 1 plane per air field.. and they will be correspondingly powerful.
We are painfully aware of that... too bad.
