On 6.19 is the CET-4 .a terrible day for almost all the Chinese students...
Who made English the world language?...We've wasted much time on it, but how many of us can now speak good english? less than 1％ for sure.
Will Chinese be learned by many people in this world? who are willing to learn the difficult language?
Our economy is growing up fast indeed, but, it's not strong enough to make others think that China will be another "America"...
I think people stick with English because it's simpler and easy to learn. Chinese, as you said, is a very complex language. I, for one, love the complexity of many things and I admire your huge alphabet :) but I can also understand why many are reluctant to learn it.
I also understand that English might be a bit difficult to learn for people from a completely different part of the world, it is a matter of what you are used to really.
By the way, don't worry, in a few years China will be just as powerfull as America ;)

actually i really want to have some communication with others but, i used not to speak.maybe less than ten sentences come out of my mouth per day. so i find that internet is a rather good place for me.i don't need to speak but to click my mouse and the keyboard.
so far,i've made some foreigner friends ,and it feels good to say sth to them or hear sth from them.
ah...just ignore the craps :p
