What bugger me on your problem is the name of your preference files, you say preferences.ini whereas it is a preference.txt file. The solution above works for me anyway.

It should be in the preference files .txt in the preferencesf folder, at the line "show_banner:false" and change it to "true". Abd for setting up/removing the fog of war, it's the same as for cheating, "toggle_fow" after pressing the "²" keyboard button (can change). Cheers !

Sorry but there is no "senate" in the mod. The corresponding starting faction is Pergamum. So i believe if you see one there must be an installation problem. Please explain what you see as a starting page.

Definitely not. You should however pickup the ones here: They have been completely overhauled by the original creator of the mod, and are all Steam-based: Ancient-battles.com

1.4 version is in the tubes for April. It will fix a number of things but the main battle has been to deal with custom settlements on what is essentially vanilla map (with new textures and some new terrain features).
Expect also more custom battles maps and historical maps.

So it was even simpler :)

Edit: I changed the path and got the same bug as you, so it's likely your path to catw01 is either deeper or less deeper on your own configuration. Either ../../../../../ or ../../../
Starting directly with catw01/data/ like on other files definitely brake the link, so it should be kept relative.

That's strange because there is a cypress_a.cas file where it should be. So i only can thing for an 7z encoding, upload or download error. never got this error. It's in the descr_climate.txt file. Just rename/delete it and see what's happens ? Could well also be the relative path which is wrong depending on your own specific installation. The file called is ../../../../catw01/data/terrain/aerial_map/tree_models/cypress_a.cas. Adding or removing one of these ../ could resolve the problem. (and modify all the other path in these files the same way)

There is no batfile. Just unzip the folder alongside your other mods and use the shortcuts. Note: There should be a single catw03 folder, not another one inside.

Hello, here are the official instructions. Tested on STEAM only.
<h2>How to install</h2>
1-Unzip the catw03 folder, by using 7zip: 7-zip.org />
2-Move you catw03 folder in your current destination: RTW-BI<br />
Ex: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Rome Total War Gold<br />
3-Then just use directly the shortcuts inside catw03, make a copies to the desktop, drop them on the desktop.<br />
They are all tailored for Vista/Seven/Win 10 types of installations and works with steam.<br />
4-Enjoy.

I'm working on 3.5. It will solve i hope several bugs and have factions changed in the unified rome campaign (like the Galatians, illyrians and pergamum in, greek leagues instead of sparta, map changes, etc)

Missing/corrupted texture ? Currently making a new check.

That's a random error which is common with all catw mods. It only appears when quitting the game or when there is another bug and disappears when deactivating the cultures file

Hello SettDark, it was never intended to work with a disk-version (and has never been tested outside of STEAM).
By precaution, i download it from here again, tested in with Alex, RTW 1.5 and bi engines and both custom battle and campaigns works just fine, but true, i did not tested all custom battle configurations.

I understand that you can't save using either the regulat menu or Ctrl+s, but in that case, does it crashes ?
(It should in that case, not going back to the menu or KTM)

They do. However due to the firepower of some "slave" factions some seems to not be bold enough. In campaign nevertheless regular factions always took over. For the others it's a question of balance. catw 1.2.4 is coming.

Just unzip the main catw05 folder in your steam/Alexander install and use the shortcut of your choice

CATW 1.2 is Fully compatible with STEAM (reworked from scratch for this in 2017).

1- Verify you have a fresh (unmodded) RTW 1.5/BI 1.6 or Alex 1.9 RTW version.
2- Unzip the catw05 file
3a- Place the file into your own Alexander directory, ie C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Rome Total War Alexander\catw05
3b- Place the file into your own RTW/BI directory, ie C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Rome Total War Gold\catw05
4- Use the shortcut inside catw folder, just put it on your desktop

For STEAM users: Go to Steam, on the Alexander TW properties, then "Set Launch Options", then paste: -nm -show_err -mod:catw05 -noalexander
The mod will start each time you launch Alexander on STEAM.
On RTW/BI same story but -nm -show_err -mod:catw05 -movie_cam
