it's a long answer that I can't go into but suffice it to say that there will be shadows on players in the game, full reflections in water, etc.

still working on that...probably won't be in the game initially. We're trying to come up with some game modes that incorporate big dinosaurs in a fun and interesting way.
always looking for talented people... :)
Good thoughts. We'll make it look as good as we can, haven't focused much on visuals until recently. The game will look better than you see in the trailer...
We have British character on the Allied side. We also have a French girl, a Latvian partisan, and a German (drummed out of the Wehrmacht). Oh yeah, and dinosaurs.
Yes, you will have to pay for this game. But the price will be reasonable!
Yes, you will have to pay for Dino D-Day when it is released on Steam. But it will be reasonably priced!
I suck at keeping you guys updated, sorry. Dino D-Day has been in continuous development for 2.5 years now...I swear I'll do more updates this time. I promise!
The initial release on Steam will be multiplayer but we'll be resuming development of the singleplayer/co-op mode very soon. Story's written, maps are roughly blocked out, just need to get back to work on it and make it good.
we're currently doing a closed beta but we might open it up...stay tuned.
very perceptive, we had to add the muzzle flash after the fact because it wasn't rendering properly.
Releasing Dino D-Day with the sort of SP/co-op experience I wanted to create was becoming increasingly difficult within the constraints of this project. Simply because I want the SP adventures to be totally satisfying stories in their own right that have lots of action, great writing, and storytelling. For this reason, we shifted to MP. We can build assets, build worlds, build characters that can all be the building blocks for a great adventure story while also being released to the public in a much more timely fashion.
We switched because I didn't want to toss off a singleplayer that I wasn't particularly proud of and had no hope of competing with triple-A releases. When SP comes its going to be big, exciting, and done right...just be patient people!
You're going to love it when we get there. :)
Thanks for the feedback everybody. Perhaps I could have phrased it better but don't construe this as abandoning SP. I'm kind of partial to SP stuff myself. The MP is simply a better foundation from which to grow the whole concept of Dino D-Day, which will include SP releases. Hopefully Dino D-Day will accomodate whatever your tastes in dinosaur killing are.
Can't go into it all right now but I hope to demonstrate that your fears are premature. There's more than enough room in Dino D-Day for great multiplayer action and absorbing, story-based adventures!
Not on the back of the Desmatosuchus...but dinosaurs with human riders? Stay tuned!
probably not...not sure where you would even start outside the Steam environment. Anyone else know?
Hmm, that is really mysterious. The engine is running by that point, you're in the game. It sounds like it's crashing when the player "teleports" to the starting position. Do you have any crashing issues on other Source games?
If you don't have HL2:Ep2 try changing the AppId in gameinfo.txt to "218". That's the general Orange Box SDK Base.
Unfortunately I can't due to some technical issues. Sorry, I know it's a pain...
Try changing the AppId in gameinfo.txt to 218. That's worked for quite a few people.
try AppId 218 in gameinfo.txt...that has worked well for a lot of people.
I've heard some other folks with Windows 7 having trouble, not sure if that's the culprit. Is the game generating error messages?
What sort of crashing issues are you having and at what point? There are several fixes out there for crashes -- haven't yet pinned it down to just one "bug."
You shouldn't, but I think you'll at least need an Orangebox game. Try AppId 218 in gameinfo.txt as it seems to work for most people.
No multiplayer yet, can't work quite that fast. Just wanted to brush up a few things and release an update.
