Is it just me, or are we completely spoiled by mods? A few years ago, a modder could just add a new weapon, or feature, and as long as it was fun, everybody loved it. Nowadays, however, most mods need to have an entire team and have completely new gameplay to even become popular. Don't get me wrong, I love big mods, but I'd just like to see a small mod someday.
Are we spoiled by mods?

Well, that's how it is going the last years.
Because games are getting more and more advanced, people are expecting every game to be off that standard and if they don't, then they are classed 'outdated/fail' for some people. Everything around us get's more modern and some games can't live up to the expectations of this moment and time.
Imagine games like Age of Chivalry, Insurgency or Call of Duty Black Ops... In like 10 years, a mod/game like that would be '****' if I say it facing the reality.
We can't stop the time and advancement of things... So we'll have to live with it, as hard as it sounds.
