launch the game, go to Options/Video/Advanced
you will see a slider control for Shader Level, move it all the way to the right, and then back to the left 1.
In options/video/advanced settings, you will find a slider control for “shader detail” — move the slider 1 position away from the right side

if you have an AMD graphics card, you need to turn the shaders down 1 level. This is bug with the core game files not being fully compatible with shader 3 tech and AMD cards. If you have an nvidia graphics card and and AMD processor, you need to make sure the game is running off of your GPU and not the CPU.
We have made our mod using the most current methods for texture/shader creation and discovered in the process this bug with the game engine and hardcoded issues. Old game, we pushed it to the limits, and discovered some messes from the the original creation of the game that just cannot be solved.
Turning your shaders down 1 level will solve the issue, we offer support and help on our discord server too

we have replaced the capturable Pirate Asteroid Base with the Errant Venture. We did not have time to complete our Pirate Asteroid Base model, so Wic thought this would be fun. Now, anyone who plays a skirmish map that used to have a Pirate Base on it can capture the Errant Venture and build a whole roster of smuggler type ship, while also using the EV.
It is just something fun we did for skirmish :)

for people with AMD Graphic cards only who experience invisible units, you need to turn your shader settings down by -1 from full shader detail in options/video/advance - shader detail. This is a glitch with AMD graphics cards, not our mod. We have patched this so that Full Shaders are able to be displayed at -1 setting to enjoy our work. Everyone else who does NOT use an AMD graphic card should be able to play the game on full shader settings and experience no problems. Yuuzhan Vong At War is a multiplayer skirmish enhancement mod for EAW/FOC. We are focused on enhancing graphics, specialized balancing and competitive gameplay, changing many elements of the game to provide a fresh and new approach to playing.
We recommend a clean install of our mod, with NO Additional Files in the game folders -- ONLY THE GAME, nothing else to ensure the smoothest play experience - we test this on about 8 different computers with people in EU and USA and have no problems.
Load mod by starting FOC, going to options/mods/select our mod and let it reload, enjoy

We are still fixing some text issues, and adjusting some projectile speeds, but here are some change notes:

Honestly, our greatest achievement. Massive model, high def texture that shows more detail when zooming, ambient occlusion, shadows and a blistering array of weapons. This is the Vong Space Station.

we are still working on it.. making progress... we are hoping that we might have something after the Halloween release, but we are certainly working on it, issue is not just the actual shader, for we had a shader that was tested to work... so progress is being made
kad is no longer working with us, so that was his idea. He was never able to finish it.
Due to the core team moving on, we are trying to get as much released for skirmish while also attempting to setup a framework for Galactic Conquest that should be easy for others to continue with. We wish to make this a community driven project, where if the community wants more, and is willing to help, we will gladly teach anything that is needed to be known and will support with coding everything.
To expand the project further, we really need help with rigging models and creating UV's for model texturing. Wariscool has promised to always support the mod with coding and I promise to always support the mod with new textures - if we have community help to continue finishing models. Rigging and UV work is easy, just takes time, but is not hard to do. We have had several volunteers help out so far, and we are pretty positive we will have a nice surprise to announce (a new faction) after the Halloween Vong release. So the more people who are helping, the more can be made for everyone to enjoy.
as of now, we are only doing space, if people want ground units, they can offer to help, the but the core team is moving on to make a new game. We are teaching volunteers to take over production of the Vong mod. The core guys have a whole new unique game that they have been hired to make.
You can put this mod in your mods folder and try it. It should work just fine, but the game itself is no longer being patched the developers, petroglyph is only patching the steam version.
If you download the mod and put in your Mods folder, it will run just fine, but if it doesn't, that is probably due to the actual game not being supported by petroglyph anymore, except for steam.
