I don't consider it dead, just sleeping :) In all honesty dead implies 'Not coming back' or 'abandoned'. This project is neither we just decided to wait for an different engine that fits our vision of the project better. There was much to much time spent training artists for the few of us that knew the engine, Add to that the fact that when something was completed an update or tweak to orangebox would screw everything up. So the project will be back just not on source.

I wanted to make an update for all you wondering. The Belle Isle project is taking a break while we hammer out some major details. 1. Not enough artists who worked concistantly. To my Team = We had a small, Dysfunctional family here and those of you who took pride in their efforts are always welcome back in the future. Those of you who in the months barely put in the effort...be happy your names even in the credits.
2. Possible engine change in Belle Isle's future.

BELLE ISLE IS NOT DEAD!! I want you all to know. As usual i will spend all my available time thinking up new ideas and when the team is right and we find the right engine it will continue and it will get done.
Those of you who did finish work and submitted, Your work is still the property of 2k8 though you have the rights to use any of it as portfolio examples. Throw up your images, animations, textures as pertaining to the agreement you signed. You cannot however give your models to anyone else for use in any media. All of which you guys know as it was clearly laid out before you submitted any work. So we're taking a production break while i look for some more team members and we hammer down a few things.
As always you all know my email send me your hate/love mail...it's been a good time.....so far :)

My Dev team is looking for a dedicated, passionate and creative mapper to join our project in the Asylum.

The engine is source..in particular the orangebox/ep2 engine.
Up until now we haven't had an issue with age but our slow progress is largly in part to lack of dedication from mappers so please 18+.
If your under 18 and can think of no other project for you email me and i will have a talk with the management about making an exception based on skill.

break they will because with a (Mostly) melee mod we want the player to have his choice between a large cache of weapons found throughout the setting. and if you found a heavy damaging axe why would you ever decide to use a wood plank with nails in it or a lead pipe? We are concepting that some weapons may be usable broken also...I have said too much.

i agree but the crits do help :) . As far as more poly's goes you guys have to think are you going to ever see this thing from all angles right up close to the camera to even notice them? Low poly is the mantra and getting a good go between to keep rendering and filesize down is key.

Thank you guys your added support is always apprecated. So for you's guyses i don't wanna give away too much but as long as we can code it correctly we were in fact thinking of having them seperateable (Faster attack but less damage kinda thing)

sorry slow response yet again um the reason it's not scuffed is because it hasn't been used this is part of the Emergency firesafety cabinet prop that will be on the walls such as ones you'd see in hospitals

Ok so let me say this we need all your help we currently need some people experienced or knowledgable in the source engine in the areas of mappers and people who know how to futz with the AI so ask your friends or that girl who's window you stare into if she knows anyone :)

We appreciate your support but if your gonna keep with the emails and insults i'll post a link to your application process for everyone to see...HOW NOT TO APPLY TO JOIN A TEAM. Yes plenty of progress we have a lot of things conceptualy solid now, Music being mastered and mixed, Initial mapping started Although WE ARE IN NEED OF ANOTHER EXPERIENCED MAPPER lol. Thought if we were gonna recruit anyone MODDB would be a good place to look.

I gotta say generally i agree or understand all the critique we get but i think we may agree to disagree here i have this closeup image of the axe's dents and scratches (A lot of which done with the normal map)and through most of the refs i used including an axe in my backyard..it to me depicts typical wear. Fileden.com

Though i do agree i can add 20 poly's and really smooth it up. Thanks for the comments guys.
