The level design was repetitive, similarly to The Cellar.
Monsters were yet again overused. This occurred in both of your previous mods as well.
Bossfights. People constantly criticize you, and when they asj you to make them easier / remove them, you reply "no". Not a proper way to interact with fans.
Puzzles. All the same. Find a key. Pull levers. Turn valves. From The Cellar to Act II.
The oil. Pathetic. The coals were impossible to find in all that darkness. No oil anywhere, and yes, you yet again just ignored the complaints.
im not going to go into insight about the level design, but either way, the overusage of monsters. you are essentially being hunted down. The grunt and brute in Act 1 arent necessarily after you, their given objective has been a different matter while you just happen to be in their vicinity, thus leading to them attempting to kill you.
This is much the same case with the suitor in Act II, however after you kill the holy light, you specifically are a major target for ---------, leading him to relentlessly send monsters after you, as to why he doesnt come to you personally, is a matter which shall be explained in Act 3.
Boss fights then, they are hard because you, a simple human, is going against an extraordinarily powerful force, even the holy light is a mere child compared to much greater beings in the lore of anorland. the only saving grace in that fight was pretty much the dagger, as without it you would just simply lose no matter what.
the puzzles can be a bit simple sometimes, cant do much as Acts 1 and 2 were made in 2014.
you can find enough oil if you just look around and explore the areas, for example quite a few handfuls of them are hidden in vases and other corners of the map, so if you just waltz through everything without looking around, youre not really gonna find much, and the coals, in that dark, abandoned area can be indeed hard to find.
Now, a bit of history about the cellar, Act 1 and Act 2, they were all made and essentially finished in 2014, the only changes i essentially did when i was releasing them here, were some improvements to the scripts and levels, which is the reason why i had been able to release them all within a single month, the only exception to this is Act III, which to this day isnt actually fully finished, hence why it will take longer to get done, otherwise even that one may already be uploaded here already.
Thanks for the explanation. I thought the mods you made after The Cellar were new (I'm not too sure if you have mentioned that they have been made in 2014) and that's why I was stating them to have no improvement whatsoever. I will remove my review immediately, if you wish.
I would still consider to add more oil. I found a few which were hidden maybe a bit too well. This lead to a total frustration when I was looking for the coals.
I am still looking forward to the Act III and I will review it, considering the other mods too.
in the very first days when i began making nights of anorland act 1, which wasnt even called nights of anorland, it was effectively meant for one of my friends, but after doing chapters 2 and 3, the third chapter being the final one initially, it was then that i decided to ditch the concept of the story being meant for my friend, and instead pretty much change it to an actual proper thing, i greatly expanded the lore, which included the additions of chapter 4 and 5.
