Full Invasion 2

Mod review

FI2: Osiris is one of the few multiplayer mods I am playing. The predecessor brought me to M&B Warband.
A lot has changed:
The factions got reduced but expanded and I love the progress system which they have built in. There are now four different tiers (recruit, soldier, elite, heroes) and while I see a lot of people complaining about the costs you have a fair chance to get at least a proper equiped soldier unit until the later waves. Cries for getting more money could have also been read already in Amber^^
There are fewer maps now, out of the simple reason that the old ones couldn't be ported to the new version. Now it's up to the people to create some by themselves, the first ones took up the challenge and brought nice new scenes into the mod. I am looking forward to see more of them in the future.
The waves got longer while becoming less in their count. The first 15 ones are pretty easy and everyone should have a fair chance of getting enough money to save up for a proper soldier unit. New is that if you start at a later wave you get more starting money. Also you won't lose the money of your equipment as a soldier, so you will always have enough gold to respawn again. I get sometimes a bit bored but that depends on the map-factions-combination.
In general I dislike the bunch of naked soldier units running around since some are claiming that the recruit class (which gets free low level armouries) is too bad to start with and not worth the money. I never got that argument since most times it are the same people afterwards complaining about how they die too quickly (you have no armoury, surprise :P ).
Some people also complain about the respawn system. In my feeling it didn't really change a lot from the Amber version. In Amber you always respawned after the challenge/boss wave (so 3, 6, 9,...), so if you died in the wave afterwards and there have been a lot of players and when it was a higher wave already it could take up to one hour sometimes to respawn, depending on the surviving players and their talent. Now you respawn always in the second wave after you died. So for people who have died in the former version in the first after-boss wave, respawn time has been reduced, for the one dying in the second after-boss wave time has not really changed. Only the ones dying in the boss wave have now to wait for more time. So in total no big changes. Still I read often players complaining about it and that the developers have to adjust this to comform the 'majority of players' who are only there for a short time session and appearantly want to have some CoD style with short sessions, lot of gold to become quickly an hero and of course no waiting time. If you are one of those, it might not really be a mod for you. I actually enjoy the time in which I have to wait to respawn: I can rest my eyes, read a bit some book to not look all the time at a computer screen, can chat with the others either in the game chat or in discord. You only need to pay a bit attention to when you spawn again, the rest is just for getting a rest after sometimes long and hard battles ^^

The Last Days (of The Third Age of Middle Earth)

Mod review

One of the best mods out there. There are rarelly mod-teams bringing their own vision into a game, basing it on the books instead of the movies. Fascinating that not only this mod got released but is after more than 11 years still getting developed, overhauled and expanded. All the developers put a lot of love into it and you can feel it in the game. They can be proud of their work here!
