Dear Esther

Mod review

A very interesting piece but it lacks true depth, particularly in the gameplay department. I'd venture to say most just bunny hopped around to the audio clip, stopped and listened (didn't move too much as to not activate one too soon), and then bunny hopped to the next one. No real puzzles or true sense of adventure. Yes, I agree the narrative is fantastic, but it could have just as easily been an mp3 file with pictures that have very little if anything at all to do with the narrative itself. Still, a great mod that deserves to be played, but probably won't change people's lives. The retail version slated for launch does look amazing, so hopefully a few things have changed and made it more interactive.

Mod review

An extremely interesting mod. Part One can turn some people off, but I actually found it very entertaining. It has a great story told in a non-intrusive way, multiple endings, completely new gameplay, and nice music. Part Two is really where the mod shines. The story is intense, interesting, and innovative. It includes more new styles of gameplay (more puzzle than the part one gameplay, which seems to be casual) and great multiple endings. Definitely a mod that I expect great things from.
