Some good points really. If it's an alternate universe, then I guess all goes. Alternate history thou does rise a lot of questions about this map. 'tis is why I asked for a time-line in the first place...

Is there a time-line somewhere to explain how these changes happened?

You know what I would really like in a future update? For the wall and furniture located in the next room to completely disappear from view when in front of my character unless I he can specifically see them. Also, the annoying roof bits...

As for the update: Split-screen sounds quite cool actually. It's a nice often overlooked feature, however you will need at least some form of online play if multiplayer will be a thing (although to be perfectly honest I'm much more interested in a simulation/rpg singleplayer).

Any chance for a 4-split later down the line? ;P

Hmm... there seems to be something wrong with the Linux build. On launch it states that the client is outdated, exits and then tries to download the MacOS patcher?

Well that's cool. Definitely glad to see this title with a native port.

However I've got the game over via GamersGate a long time ago.
How should I go about getting the Linux version then?

AlexVSharp - - 215 comments @ Hyperspace Pinball Looking for Linux Testers

Tried it on my Linux Mint 13 MATE 64bit and it works.

I did find a missing feature and a bug though:
Bug: Sometimes the ball seems to get stuck 'inside' the flipper with no way to free it.
Feature: There's no way to play the game in a window... :P

btw, I'll repost this news on GamingOnLinux.com so you can get more testers.

I'm sorry, but I see much more potential in this game as a coop survival horror game rather than a multiplayer team death-match. Just sayin'. :/

Well I am tracking the game, so if you make another announcement I will know. Otherwise, if you need a tester do send me a message once it's ready and I'll give it another go.

Also, consider putting the 'NOTE' at the beginning of the article.

You probably should've included the dev version of the libs you used to make this demo. Most of those still aren't available in the default 12.04 Ubuntu LTS installation (hence they're also missing in my Mint 13) and running the script constantly keeps asking for missing shared libraries.

Okay, thanks to your dedication in going cross-platform the game popped up on my radar. Looks slick, so I took it for a spin and can definitely see the potential. Unfortunately in its current state it has proven to be way too much trouble to play at a reasonable pace; that's to say: so many things to set up, very slow way of doing it. The combat also felt rather stagnant, hence I just ended up simulating everything - less fun, but less troublesome as well...

I have high hopes for this title and as such have to emphasize extreme caution with the way you plan on implementing the micromanagement systems. If strained too much it could bring the gameplay to an unreasonable crawl, especially with bigger campaign. This would potentially cripple the title.

So far so good though; tracking.

AlexVSharp - - 215 comments @ Wild man is on kick starter and why you should support them

I don't think so. The mindset is completely different; so is the cost. Not every pro-indie studio will be able to raise the necessary funding all the time, which could lead to many nasty cuts. Look at it this way: If an independent developers without money to work on the game full-time has problems, imagine what happens with a huge group of proficient people in the same situation? It's not pretty... So as with every Indie: wish them good luck with their game, watch it, study it, support it if you like it. And if it does get completed: play it and have fun!

As for the spotlight, it keeps shifting all the time anyway, and there are too many factors to determine which game will get it and when. Sometimes players want something crispy-looking, sometimes they want something cheap and fun. At the end of the day when someone makes something worthwhile people will eventually play it one way or another. Besides, if free open-source projects like "0AD" or "Unvanquished" can have such a strong impact, then certainly titles made by small teams of enthusiastic hobbyist developers can as well. It will require more ingenuity and time, but since when was that a problem?

The game does still work, if that's what you're talking about?
Although tbh I have downloaded the client directly from their website.

Only problem with it is that there aren't as many people playing it as there use to be. 'tis a shame considering it's such a great game imo. Good thing there are a bunch of dedicated servers though.

Uhm... a minimap is hardly what I would call 'realistic'... especially in a survival game.
Perhaps a simple compass would've been a better choice?
If exploration is more important than knowing exactly where you are, a 'blank' map could work too.
