Hi devs! I guess now you can move this page on IndieDB, this is easy. We did the same with Open Outcast mod. Just contact the website administrator, and they make your entire page with all subscribers be available on IndieDB with a standalone game status. Then you'll be able to choose the Source Engine as a game engine and continue to post your media. All the MODDB subscribers will still be able to see your page.

Your page www.moddb.com/mods/lambda-wars will become www.indiedb.com/games/lambda-wars and www.moddb.com/games/lambda-wars will be available too. It's the same network.

I guess it was too long ago, I may have remembered it incorrect. Somehow I thought PantherEye was a cut creature from HL2 alpha.

When I read "Raising the Bar" book, I remember some chapters describing the wasteland, in the very beginning of a mission where you must reach the atmospheric reactor. There was a creature called "panther eye". And some very different alpha concepts of Eli and a girl (which became an Alyx in HL2).I guess you've seen that book. And I always wanted to play this version of HL2. There's also a bigger edition of this book (discovered in 2016) that contains some unfinished material and lots of chapters that were not included into original "raising the bar" book.

So my general question is - will you use these concepts from Raising the bar and how about making a Panther Eye creature? Thanks.

Мой мод нацелен только на изменение HUD, и был специально доделан и выложен в открытый доступ. Ранее он ещё нигде официально не публиковался. Всё, что было в других подобных "модах" - это либо украденная бета моего Alpha HUD от 2009 года, либо более поздняя версия, вытащенная из моих модов, либо одно из двух - с изменениями.

Буквально только ещё 2-3 человека пытались воссоздать этот же HUD из оригинальных файлов и по ранним скриншотам Alpha Crysis с нуля. К примеру, VietCry, Living Hell: Noname Island 2 - в этих модах полностью свои реализации. Но в оригинальных файлах отсутствовали радар и меню костюма, которые для своего мода я сделал полностью сам. Поэтому в тех модах используются свои версии, мало похожие на то, что было в Alpha версии Crysis.

Мой мод наиболее близок к оригиналу. Узнать плагиат из моего мода легко - в нём обязательно будет мой радар и один или несколько других элементов. Эти "alpha crysis" моды просто копируют мой HUD, добавляют туда ещё 2-3 фичи и выкладываются как что-то полностью своё. Таких модов уже можно насчитать более десятка. Но сейчас у моего мода есть неоспоримое преимущество над подделками - это код C++, который правильно отображает задания на круглом радаре, т.е. то, чего ещё не было в других модах.

Follow the installation guide on downloads page and in Readme file. Copy AlphaCrysisHUD into Crysis/Mods folder. Then launch one of the .bat files to start 32-bit or 64-bit version of the mod.

Hi and thanks for your comment. I checked out your mod, I like the idea, but it seems to me even more difficult than just straightforward Far Cry to CryEngine 2 port. I wish you good luck with your project. Just don't repeat my past mistakes - prepare and release a working playable demo version no matter what, even one level will be good enough. And then maybe you will have a chance to attract developers and community to your project. Crysis modding was almost dead, but recently I noticed even more people to return to CryEngine 2 modding rather than trying their luck with unstable and buggy CryEngine 5.

Yeah, I've shut down my project because it was a difficult period of time in CryEngine world. As you remember, there was a transition between Crysis 1 and Crysis 2, and at the same time there was also Free SDK. None of the last had a complete and working SDK. People have started to turn their backs to the modding and the engine at that time.

But I can't take any donations or release it as a commercial game. This is strictly copyrighted, the IP doesn't belong to me, and since the beginning this was just a free hobby project. There's a lot of difficulties especially because Crysis belongs to EA and Far Cry belongs to Ubisoft. But if you make it as non-commercial thing, it will fall under "fair use" of copyright law.

Unfortunately I see no practical use in continuing this as a full-featured game as a Crysis mod. Of course, that was an exciting experiment to try this cross-engine porting and remake. We even planned to move to CryEngine 3, but we decided to cancel it, because there was no proper SDK at the moment, because of negative feedback, and mostly because lots of people didn't see any point in it. They said "Alright, you are going to remake everything with just better graphics, but what's a point when you can play the original".

These days only a few people make Crysis 1 mods, but maybe I can still find someone to finish the necessary modelling job. The first level was almost done, but we faced some AI problems with these ripped FarCry 1 characters. Some weapons weren't finished too. I'm looking forward to maybe finish it one day. But further than first level? The Carrier is mostly an indoor space and the original interior models are too ugly to use directly ripped models without any rework or at least retexturing. The 3rd level is fantastic (Fort), but first we need to finish level 2. If I announce the continuation of the development, I'm afraid no one will answer.

And some people tried this on CryEngine 3 and CryEngine 5. But this is far more difficult. You see, I tried to get rid of Crysis-feel and Crysis-look as much as possible in my mod. You can't say you are just playing yet another Crysis map when you play PFC. That was hard to do, we had to use everything original (or close to original) - music, weapons, textures, colors, sounds, partially vegetation, the HUD and even characters - either ripped directly from Far Cry, sometimes modified with brand new textures, or recreated from scratch. So it had a lot of original and custom resources on the maps, which was almost unique for Crysis mods. But we still used lots of Crysis stuff and lots of ripped FarCry stuff.

If you want to start with the newer CryEngine, you will have to do much more custom stuff yourself, first because CryEngine SDK comes almost bare bones and second because it doesn't support geometry files from CryEngine 1 - so you can't just copy models straight away from ce1 to ce5 like you can do with ce1->ce2. You will have to create your models. And there's no AI. You will have to code it yourself. Too much to do money-wise if you can't even sell it on Steam. Because when you try to do it, Ubisoft lawyers come there after you.
