I am a 3D Artist to has recently succumb to the tragic ins-and-outs of daily life. I keep my day job to pay the bills, but it's time to get back into the swing of art-things. I'll be looking for talented 3D modeling/2D Artist, on a freelance basis. Recently I had been asked to run the Art Department of a start-up company that tragically couldn't get its finances in order. 2 absurdly long shaders working!! 3 step cel shading, and the edge detection outline around meshes. I am happy with this :P

Yeah, the game scope is now small. A main menu, level 1, end credits etc. still qualify as a game by the simplest measures. Creating those shaders was 7 hours of headache enough haha. I'm confident in this smaller goal being more achievable. Maybe after that I can push levels and add on some contributing artists/creative minds to help out. In due time.

Oooh cool! They are for sure similar but I think I may have an extra strand of hair here and there. There was a really nice vector art on deviantart that I used as reference. But yeah I've been without home Internet for a long time, and sadly this stupid iPhone does enable me to upload/download the necessary files or images to update anything. Hence why I don't have anything new here :-/ but if I get my Internet back I'll update it just for you! Lol

Lol well considering you're not even in college yet, you are going to be very fortunate when you are. I didn't use any software before college, just paper and pencil. I've done bits and pieces over the last year or so, nothing career changing however. I collaborate with Z warrior, but the models on the indie page are all xotakus. Mine aren't in the engine just yet (Shenron and gohan). Creating your own character is definitely hard. I'm no concept artist, most 3d artists aren't, but drawing inspiration from others and trying to make your own is a great experience.

Good, explore as much software as you can. Experience will be your greatest teacher. I use zbrush a lot to create concepts and polish up some normal maps. When matching someone else's model sheets I still prefer 3ds max, but zbrush is totally amazing. Modeling anime is new for me, DBZ ( Shenron, and gohan) is the first anime I've modeled. I'm working in cell right now so I can create a nice piece for my portfolio. Thought about doing a few inuyasha characters too. I didn't get to recreate too many characters in school, all concepts have to be your own, so now I'm just having some fun with it. Have you created anything based in your own concepts or do you prefer to create previously established characters? I have a lot more work on my website ( ashleelong.com ) if you're curious to see what kind of work I've put out prior to joining here. As always if you can think of questions ask away!!

This is looking alright so far. How many ploys are you sitting at right now? It's hard to give too much of a critique without some wire frames/ lighting. There are no shadows so it's difficult to give you a good reading of how this would look in game. If you're working in Max, drop in some omni lights or a skylight for an overall soft lighting. Render that out, and toss some wireframes my way and I'll give ya a full critique. The proportions seem on par, but the silhouette needs work. Armor detail around the wrists and shoulders are what I see first. This has a very good base mesh, and can be great if you utilize you're ploys wisely. I look forward to some more renders, keep on working!

Bt3? Lol, I know it's probably sad I have to ask because I consider myself a huge dbz fan ha! I thinned the lines a bit in the final texture, and didn't pick a particular lighting in 3ds max because I expect this this go into unity anyway. I THINK my deviantart exists still - aipash - but it's ancient and I don't update it. If I get my home Internet service back soon, I'll do a "spring refresh". Cell phone Internet for several months just isn't cutting it!

I know how you feel about relying on anyone but yourself, but I'm more than willing to model many things for ya (especially the characters). Sometimes your art guys can inspire you to keep motivated too ;-) My crazy work schedule is at ease now that I'm not playing manager anymore, so send some stuff my way. I'm unwrapping Shenron and the mountains as we speak and they will be available for unity by weeks end. Cheers!

This really is phenomenal, especially considering how young you are! If ya need anything you know I got your back and I will art asset the day away for you. lol. Interfaces too, you're incredibly talented and are taking on some technical tasks I wouldn't even know how to approach. If you need an art guy tho, I'm your girl.
