1. Valve is valve, and can hardly be included when grouping "Publishing companies" together (as they tend to do the exact opposite, with their games often releasing late, if they even do).

2. Westwood and Petroglyph were/are Development studios and not publishing companies. Westwood's publisher was Electronic Arts. Petroglyph is independent, but most of their games do still have publishers (for Star Wars: Empire at War, it was LucasArts, for Universe at War: Earth Assault, it was SEGA, for End of Nations, it's Trion Worlds).

Though one thing worth noting sometimes with indie games is that while you might not have a publisher breathing down your neck, many indie game developers don't have another income source, which can cause a rush of "release before you go broke". They still produce superior products most of the time.

It probably can be modified, but I imagine the reason for the poor pathfinding in the first place is probably sheer difficulty in writing good, efficient pathfinding.

Yeah, I agree on that, especially considering Roger Hiorns' project "SEIZURE" produced a floor that I feel kinda looks like a C&C battlefield if you were to make it have only blue Tiberium and no Green. 3.bp.blogspot.com

On a similar note, now I kinda want one of those crystals, just to display, for that reason.

Yeah, EA's was more "stealth", while this is more "tank".

The signature generators killed it though, pretty much never researched that, and it annoyed me when enemies did, made it look too silly =/

Kane's Wrath doesn't even support mods, so what do you think?

On a similar note, I can't wait to try this, but I'm at my college between classes, and my Tiberium Wars disk is at home, while my Kane's Wrath disk is in the disk drive, so I guess it'll have to wait. =/

You are aware that that's actually the real-life Soviet national anthem, right? Not made by the capitalist pigs responsible for Cod4.

This is made even worse by the fact he's firing it at temple prime! D=

You have to open and close the gates manually, so since it's closed, the path-finding considers it a wall.

Definitely liking what I've seen so far, only problem I have is that the Confederates lack an EVA voice, and so I keep not knowing that units or buildings are under attack until too late

The soundtrack only has 3 per faction, but there's an additional 3 for each that wasn't in the released soundtrack, and then Uprising added yet another 3 per faction. Then you also have their superweapon music (one per faction), and all that is just considering music for in battle.
