Hello, My name is Davis, and I am the lead artist of a 6 person team that has been working on a fantasy Indie 2D combat platformer for a few months. We are currently in search of a second programmer to join our team, specifically one who is familiar with Unity. Our main developer has been occupied outside of the project, so we are looking for someone to help fill in while he is gone, as well as staying as a valuable member of our team when he returns. Our goal is to completely make a small prototype area, which we will then share and hopefully get enough attention to continue working.

This is sort of a side project for all of us, but I do try to pay my team some money for the work they do. I can't offer a ton at the moment, but hopefully it can be a nice incentive on the side

Gameplay:
The Player can move around like a normal 2D platformer, with a walk/run/single jump. however, she also has a diagonal dashing attack, that will reset the jump, along with the dash, when it successfully hits an enemy or specific items in each level.

This game will be largely combat oriented, with a wide variety of enemies that have an array of different movesets and ranges. The player does not have the health to trade multiple blows, especially against some of the later, larger types. The ideal play style is to stay constantly in motion, and landing quick bursts of attacks, while evading the enemies massive blows. The player will have somewhat of a learning curve, but i believe after some time, the player can be extremely agile and untouchable. I wouldn't say it is as difficult as a rogue like game, but it should be a challenge to beat each area.

Job Description

The candidate for this role would work side by side with our current programmer and improve player controls, enemy positioning and attack, and help build the world with the current assets we have. Since this is a combat oriented game, a good chunk of the work would involve enemy ai and combat, as well as how the player can fight/interact with them.

Everything will be sprite based, animations as well. A tool for handling sprite sheets and managing the pivots of each sprite has already been made to help managing animations correctly inside of Unity. Obviously, all the assets would be provided, and we actually have quite a lot built up on the art end, so there would be no lack of things to do in the meantime.

Very brief plot summary:

The story Revolves around a female soldier in a fantasy world that is recovering from a massive war that ended shortly before the events of the game. However, Hostility is resurfacing from both of the two factions, and it seems likely that another conflict is more and more likely to re-emerge. The player finds a magical artifact that has a god-like being trapped inside of it, which grants her magical power and speed. As the player grows stronger and stronger, her very humanity is tested, as well as the limits to how far she will go to stop more bloodshed. Will this new found strength be enough to deter another war, or will it be the perfect weapon for this new conflict?
